Hi Everyone,
I just tried a quote on Egg and got offered Stg 985 for my C4. Doesn't sound too bad at all! Where do we stand on RSRs? What does modified mean in terms of exhausts?
Cheers,
David

As far as I know RSR uses original exaust with bits changed/removed inside, with minimal performance gain, so if you don't tell them, I don't think anyone will know or can see the little bit of welding on the box!!

I just placed my insurance with Privilege for Stg 1,099. This includes protected NCB, full business use, 10,000 miles and allowance for my Sunday accident. It would have been about 200 quid cheaper but for the accident. The big benefit for me was that they didn't require a tracker. Excess was 650.
Cheers,
David

You guys have it easy....
My insurance is £3,500 (US$5,600)! I have been driving 12 years, with one claim 10 years ago and not a speeding ticket for 8 years!!
That was the best deal I could find. The real killer is moving countries - you are treated as an insurance virgin, and they really know how to *%&~ you <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />
On the upside, their policy has a lot of extras such as annual green card and track day cover.
If anyone has any tips for lowering this by a mere grand or two, my gratitude will be deeper than the Mariana Trench...

Graham, know how you feel. When I first came to the U.K. My insurnace was crazy money!!! The one thing that did help was my old insurance company in the staes gave me a letter saying that i had been a good boy for the last three years and I found a company that would accept this as No Claims. Dumb really, they considered me a novice driver but then would give me a No Claims discout!
Good luck next year

The best quote I've had so far is a close one between Tesco and Elephant.co.uk.
Those of you (in the UK) without a full no-claims bonus may be interested in Elephant's "bonus accelerator", whereby you buy a 10 month policy (instead of 12) but earn a year's no claims bonus each time. I don't work for them and haven't tried the scheme, but it seems like a good idea.

Norwich Union Direct £1060 protected NCB - full NCB £530 xs - No tracker required, 12K miles per year.
In the end Porsche Insurance Services (started at £1500) did a price match, as they use NU as underswriters.
Tried elephant/esure/egg, but they all needed trackers which would have added £££ to the initial outlay.
