Default Intercity Auto Transport

I just went back and read alot of old posts and it seems everyone here loves Intercity.

So, basically, if anyone wouldn't mind sharing.......

How much did you pay?
From where to where?
How long did it take?
What type of Porsche?

Any Photos?

THANKS - I am strongly considering using them when I buy my next p-car.

We have used Intercity for our past three Porsche purchases. We have used other transport companies that were a little less money, but we ended up with damage on one of the cars (a new Boxster) and the other companies truck was just plain DIRTY. We learned our lesson, and from now on it's ONLY Intercity for us.

We've had Porsche's shipped to us from California to Arkansas, shipped one back to California from Arkansas, and from New York to Arkansas. It has taken us anywhere from 5 to 7 days to get our car after it's been picked up. How long it takes to get your car all depends on where the car is picked up from and where the other cars on the same load are going to. It's always different. The same with prices. They always fluctuate depending on the price of gasoline. The cars we've shipped with them have been 2 356 Coupes and a 356 Speedster.

Here's a few Pictures...

This is our 1965 356 Coupe going to it's new owner in So. Cal. Intercity also brught this same car to us when we made our move from So Cal. to R Can Saw:

This is our1955 Speedster being Picked up in New York:

and being delivered to us:

Hope this helps,
JoAnne

Samuel, here are my details:

How much did you pay? ---just over $1k, summer 2005.

From where to where? ---Cary NC to Groton MA

How long did it take? ---3 days; they were 2 days ahead of schedule but I wasn't available to meet them, so they made a couple other deliveries in the area (Intercity is MA based). Constant phone communication throughout so I knew exactly where they were.

What type of Porsche? ---944 Turbo

No pics unfortunately, but the car arrived in perfect condition.

They are a Rennlist sponsor. You won't be disappointed!

Yeh, I saw that they are Massachusetts based. Which is ironic, and maybe helpful when it comes to money, since I live about 25 minutes North of Boston myself. Who knows?

$995 back in May of 2004 (included spare wheels/tires as well)
Jacksonville FL to MA
36 hours door to door.
Roll on, roll off...never even started the engine.
Delivered to my house at 8PM.....every kid in the neighborhood arrived less than 5 minutes later.

Could not have been happier with Intercity.

Thanks. Bought the car sight unseen from a rennlist member in Florida.

Love at first sight when it got pushed back onto the elevator lift, Love at first sound when I fired it up, Love at first feel when I brought it to the track (I won't mention the 'quick lap or two or three around the neighborhood').

There's nothing like a Porsche.

I was really happy with Blue Highways. I got a quote from Intercity's to transport a 993 C4 Cab from PA to MI of $1200 or so. Likewise, I got a quote from Blue Highways of $850 or so. A coworker of mine had used them a number of times and had excellent experience with them.

There are few carriers that really take care of your car, but I definitly put BH right there with IC. My car arrived full enclosed, by a husband/wive team that were very professional. They did have to remove two other cars from the truck to get mine out. While they were unloading, we started getting some sprinkles and the other two cars got a little wet. They spent the next hour in front of my house reloading, strapping, and drying the other cars inside the trailer.

I couldn't be happier. I have an entire gallery of delivery pictures here: http://www.pbase.com/jlsphoto/porsche_delivery

I have never used them, but after watching them load up at the Porsche Parade I would not hesitate to call InterCity.

They are not the cheapest, but they are good. We've even had a husband and wife team who dropped our Porsche off (in frontof the house) in for dinner!

Ask for a nose position then they won't have to move your car prior to your delivery. Also you can request that they don't start the car, so if you're not in the nose they will roll it off and on w/o starting it if they have to deliver another one in front.

Seems like a silly question, but how do they tie the car down once it's inside the carrier? Straps through the wheels?

Yes, unless the car is equipped with chassis mounted tie down points.

The suspension is free to 'travel' up and down. It's not locked down.
