1958 356A convertible just went for $125,000 on barett-jackson
like for $60,000 it'd be a fair price - someone really wanted that car!

What about the dope who bought the Pontiac Sunfire "concept car" for $80,000?

Guess the drunk guy who bid $125,000 woke up, realized what he'd done, and backed out of the deal. I'm sure that the ebay seller is B-J. Because we would never want to even hint that perhaps there might have been some shilling going on under the big top Saturday night.

pft, someone falls out on the deal and it probably just gets turned back over to the old owner. Or the next highest bidder

It’s not a secret that shill bidding is allowed at B-J. Owners often have their cars on as “no reserve”. But in reality the owner does have a reserve that they want to get. So if that price is not met, they just simply bid on their own car and pay the commission to B-J. For the owner this is still much better than selling their car for much less than they think its worth. B-J doesn’t really care as long as they get the commission from the buyer and the seller.

well understandable if your car gets some ****ty bids
although at a certain point when factoring in the comission you'd pay it's worth just simply letting it go for less
