Plenty of people back out, and plenty of their "Prior scheduled events" get canceled in Leipzig... and then its just a short drive over to Stuttgart in your new car.

What does your build look like?
My 911 T (Gentian Blue w/just a few options) is still set for 3/10 to 3/17 production - hoping for July or Aug ED as I have 24 Alpine passes mapped out and would like to hit them while they're open (of course!) and when the weather is best. I officially started the weekly emails to Joey last week but I doubt I'll catch a lucky break - really want to lock down a date (even if no Zuff tour is possible) soon so I can start making reservations - hotels book early for peak summer season and I don't want to end up getting screwed out of decent hotel options too.

Thinking of canceling the Castle and Lake, maybe stick up around Nurburgring or find somewhere to make it closer to Stuttgart?? Maybe into France for the day or two?

EDIT: I think Lake Constance and the Castle are out. Too far south from Nurburgring. Perhaps Rothenburg ob der Tauber or somewhere around this region that keeps us closer to Stuttgart region. We will leave Nurburgring after a lap or two, so 630-730pm departing.

Has anyone done a short wine tour around the Rothenburg ob der Tauber/Nurburgring/Stuttgart regions?? This could be an idea.
Well I expect to be coming from Leipzig, so I was thinking rather than a 4-5 hour drive straight to Zuffenhausen in the evening right after a day of absurdly exciting delivery activities, maybe we'd just drive a couple hours and stay the night near Wartburg Castle, then tour that in the morning before blasting off for Heidelberg Palace. And then onto Zuffenhausen (assuming it's still open for factory tours when we go for our 911 ED trip).

I think you should consider visiting Heidelberg Palace and Rothenburg - both are a short drive NW & NE of Stuttgart, respectively. Each is < 90 min from Zuffenhausen and they're < 2 hours from each other.

Maybe you could spend a day & night in Strasbourg on the way up to the Nurburgring - really nice city.

Thanks for those coordinates - that's a much better/closer spot for the ubiquitous "new car with Neuschwanstein" pic than I got back in 2017 with my M2. Made a note of this for the forthcoming 911 ED!

I second that (stopped there in 2019).

Looking pretty solid for a short trip now w/a nice mix of Black Forest, Nurburgring, Rothenburg, and a castle visit... Looks like time is tight on 4/22 but just FYI if you like castles and your plans change and/or extend, there's also Hohenzollern Castle which is only about 45 min from Lichtenstein Castle. I haven't been to either of those but I have both as potential visits on my last day before drop off at Sindelfingen (depends on if I have time - I might feel the need for another high speed autobahn run and/or a second 'alpine slide' before giving up the car the next morning!).

Thank you.

If time gets tight on 4/22 I will cancel the Castle visit.

Regarding the Autobahn, how do you know that there is no legal limit on a section, is there a specific sign? I looked up a map and the un-restricted autobahn are all over the country it appears.

Cheers

Yes, it's a very specific sign - a white circle with four black diagonal slashes across it.

The PCM/GPS system usually will pop up with the sign, and I believe it shows a pic on the dashboard as well to point out speed restricted areas and no speed restricted...

I have a hat and a T-shirt with the road sign on it... No, I do not wear them together haha, but its a cool sign that only people who care about cars get.

Be aware that the same circle.with a number in it is the speed limit if the unlimited zone has ended due to construction or population. U have to pay attention and follow the rules like all the other german drivers.
