I spoke to Anthony several months ago and as I recall the price with install was @1400. Perzan was offering their version at approx. the same price. I didn't follow through on either due to concern about fiddling with a ten year old piece of electronics - still wondering if it would be better to go with the Dynavin. I worry about putting the time and money into modifications to an old system and so am stuck in limbo.

It sucks Porsche left us 991 owners out when they came out with the Classic CarPlay systems. Probably would have been the same ballpark cost, but at least would be an easy OEM swap with electronics warranty. Unfortunately I'm all-in on CarPlay at this point so I will definitely do something before its back on the road this summer.

I emailed Anthony on current pricing but haven't heard back.

Anthony got back to me and his price is $1700 with $100 off for each member of a group. For $100 difference I’ll probably end up at tier 1 to have local support if there are issues. I’m a bit disappointed, I thought his price was in the middle of DYI and the ZZ-2 solution.

You know at those numbers, it gets a little difficult to justify the spend, despite these cars being quite valuable. For the miles I drive, and the places I go, having CarPlay/Android Auto is only going to make accessing my music more convenient, as that's my main source of pain. I currently use a bluetooth dongle that let's me stream Spotify, or whatever, from my phone, but I have to select music on my phone. Not the end of the world, and it leaves me weighing whether it's worth spending close to 2k just to access my music faster in a car that I only drive a couple thousand miles a year. I find the PCM 3.0 Navi to be good enough for the few times I actually use it, and I have no problems with PCM phone functionality, which is the only other thing I use occasionally.

Knowing me, I'll still do it, but the juice isn't really worth the squeeze. I'll justify it as an extravagant treat for myself.

this is my feeling as well. BT and phone nav if needed. And I’m an audiophile that literally owns a custom audio video design/install business 😆

Really off topic, but does anyone know of a good plumber/contractor that works in Wayne? My normal guy is busy and I need some water supplies relocated and a vanity installed. Thought I would check here. Thanks in advance!

Curious if anyone has used MainLine Motorsports in Exton for repairs/service? I just learned of them via Instagram and would consider using them for routine service on my 997 TTS if I can get some positive endorsements of their work.

Thanks,

Kevin M.

I'd lean towards Dougherty. They've been working on Porsches since 1977 and have a good reputation.

Did you get your guy? Bruce's Plumbing. He's awesome, in the Upper Merion end of the Panhandle (Hughes Rd between Gypsy and Weadley. )

I live in Wayne!

Yes. Erik and the team at Perzan installed the NM auto and backup camera for me last year. They are great and highly recommend their services. They are also distributors of Joyeauto I believe and have those units in stock. Well priced - they do a lot of work for the P dealerships in the mainline area.

Happy to provide pictures or more info. It made a world of difference for my 991 C4S Cab.

The solution is great primarily for Google maps/Waze (speed traps) on the screen and siri. ("call x", "read me my messages", etc.). Music is not a reason to do it (esp for us audiophiles) because the units plug into the PCM system through the Aux, so that's the level of sound you will get. If I want to really hear the Burmeister at its best, I have to go the CD route. Alternatively, I am listening to XM or Bluetooth (not through carplay, but PCM). For me, the $1,300 was very much worth it bc of the backup camera. I have a '13 cab and it was impossible to back up with any visibility with the top up. The carplay was a nice way to bring the car to modern times.

We're looking for a local 996 Carrera for exhaust development - if you're able to participate please send us a message!
