Oh yeah - I know ALL about it. So does my health insurance too, unfortunately! Get out past the fresh cut grass and there are the equivalent of ski moguls out there.

For all the traveling I did, at all the new and unfamiliar tracks I raced at (usually on no sleep after driving all night to get there), the only places I got seriously hurt were BHF (3x) and Road America (once.) VIR, Barber, Daytona, MAM, Topeka, Gateway, Grattan, GingerMan, Summit Point... totally unscathed. Go figure.

PS - tire walls are hard. Not as hard as armco - but still pretty f'n hard.

saw a guy write off a Z06 on those moguls at BHF at a track day. a few weeks earlier an SCCA open wheel driver (FF or FV) driver was killed when a deer ran on track. scary place for such a small, slow-ish track.

I completely disintegrated my left shoulder on the moguls outside of T7. Did you know there is a pond way out there, about 100 yards out?

As for wildlife - they have issues with deer, turtles (!!), and wild turkeys.

yep, saw the pond (it's close to the main gate between 6 and 7)

maybe they should start LeMons style biathlon races...points added for drive-by hunting.

I built my own... some pics here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...3&l=e39877b4e8

I started off using a Playseat setup, but it was too rickety. Now all that's left is the seat that came with it - but that's on its way out too. Scored a set of 993 seats (free!) so I plan to swap one of those in.

Yup. Cadillac had 2 of them running.

Seemed to be the year of the simulator this year. The Road America display had a Playseat setup going (with iRacing.) Ford had a Force Dynamics FD-401 going (which would have been a lot more awesome to play with if they weren't running rFactor and gave you more than 60 seconds to get used to it...)

News for iRacing

iRacing plans to add the RUF RT12R to its lineup of virtual race cars and high performance automobiles later this year. Manufactured by RUF Automobile GmbH, the RT12R is among the world’s very fastest production automobiles.

“We’re excited to offer the RUF RT12R to iRacers around the world,” says Steve Myers, Executive Vice President and Producer, iRacing.com Motorsport Simulation, LLC. “We’re proud of the assortment of virtual race cars we have available, but iRacers have made it clear they also want high-performance, exotic automobiles in our service. The RUF RT12R certainly fits the bill. It’s a superb piece of automotive sculpture, with performance that is nothing short of breathtaking.”

At the heart of the Ruf’s performance is a 3.8 liter, twin-turbo, flat six engine producing 730 horsepower and nearly 700 lb/ft of torque. Coupled with a six speed transmission, the RT12R has a top speed of 230 mph.

“RUF is pleased to partner with iRacing.com in building a digital version of the RT12R,” said Estonia Ruf, Director of Marketing, RUF Automobile GmbH. “For more than 70 years RUF has been recognized for the craftsmanship and cutting-edge engineering that goes into all of our automobiles. Although it is a young company, comparatively speaking, iRacing clearly shares those core values of craftsmanship and engineering excellence.”

iRacing vehicle dynamic engineers will begin the process of creating a digital prototype of the RT12R later this spring. When completed, the prototype will undergo a rigorous testing and development process in order to insure the virtual Ruf drives just like the real one. iRacing expects to release the RUF RT12R to members in the fall of 2012.
