What, in your opinion is the best way to launch out of the Oak Tree?

I drop 2 gears before the first apex (T11) and then try to scrub a whole bunch more between T11 and Oak Tree and go down 2 more gears to 1st gear. More often than not I push a bit wide on exit, so I try to cut as tight to the inside curbing as I can without bumping the tire wall. (I've hit that a few times too!)

In qualifying I'll push that exit harder, but in a race it's not worth the risk.

Agreed though I can't decide if it's really worth going down to 1st or not. I've tried going down, and leaving it in 2nd, and saw no real noticeable change in lap times. But the extra torque from 1st makes it a little easier to want to spin IMO.

Well said. Yep. I remember driving the Riley Prototype here and watching the fastest guys. They seem to have accomplished a general drift through the entire complex. Not sure if that's possible for the Porsche

FWIW, I seem to be shifting to third at the end of the track out strip whether I go down to 1st or 2nd. 2nd just feels a little better, but first lets me rotate easier if I get off line.

I've slid through T11 in a mini drift, but that greases up the tires by the time you get to Oak tree and the back end becomes uncontrollable.

The reason I use 1st is that I have trouble judging my speed in 2nd gear and I will push wide much more frequently.

Love all the different paint jobs and the huge variety. That said I am planning to replace the current graphics on my 964 RSA with the Brumos Porsche #59 livery RSA in real life and would love to run that livery that on the RUF in iRacing. I see someone using it in the video but I can't find it on trading paints. Can anyone help me out? TIA.

I'm going to run a straight 2 hour practice session tonight. I've been busy with real life and that continues tonight but I should be able to get on about 9pm EST. I need it badly, I'm way off pace judging from Sunday.

You might want to check on the iRacing forum for paints, not everyone posts them on Trading Paints, but you need it on there to share it so others can see it in iRacing.

Going to miss tomorrow night. Fanatec wheel (my second) died. I've had it with Fanatec. Love the wheel when it works, but too many problems and no support. Just purchased a G27 wheel, but it won't be here by tomorrow. Hate to miss VIR. Have Fun!!

I found one I think I'm going to run, hopefully no one else here is using it. If so let me know and I'll switch to another one. I like being able to tell who i'm running near by paint scheme, that way I know to either get out of the way or if I can run close to them.
