Tony was asking in an earlier session how to take the carousel. I set a PB in a later session today and saved the replay - Tony, here is how I take the carousel.

Funnily enough, the carousel was always my worst corner at this track. Always has been, and I've been going to RA since ~1998, and easily have a couple hundred laps there. This past week with iRacing, I think it clicked for me. I always just kinda "went through it" with a sort of "shrug", and talking to David Murry after he reviewed one of my laps, said "Just keep to the inside" so I started doing that. I noticed that the super fast guys were still entering wide while I held the inside. I was still fairly fast through it (at least compared to most of the other cars in Black group at PCA DE's) but found it funny that other guys still took it differently. Now... I think I figured it out. Wide entry, charge in hard, THEN hold the inside.
Now I want to go back in real life and give it another shot!

Pretty close to how I take it, but I even enter near inside, I short shift into 4th at the bridge, keep and even throttle to about halfway, you can just start to see the inside rumble stripes and then I just start easing on the throttle at the rumble stripes I'm full throttle or just past them. About the rumble stripes the road comes up to meet you ( increased camber ). I have a friend that has been the formala F champion the last few years and he says there is more grip on the inside, hence why I run that line.

If you don't have one by the time I get home I'll share 2 with you in a practice tonight.
Speaking of which. Who is up for a 80min practice, 20 min quali, 20 min race tonight? Just for fun. I'd start the practice somewhat early like 7:00pm EST.

Thought this might be of interest, I'm a subscriber of SpeedSecrets Weekly and a couple of weeks ago they covered the pro racing simulators, the $2million kind that F1 teams use. Well they referenced an earlier issue which they talked about iRacing. So I asked Ross if there was any way of getting back issues as I have only been a subscriber for a couple of months. He said in fact they were just going to be releasing past issues on their website the next week. Well it's out now and I picked up a few back issues, including issue #33 is the iRacing one they are just 50 cents each. It was pretty interesting, how to use it as a tool, how you develop/enhance your other skills being that you don't have the seat of the pants input.
Thought I would pass it along, their website is: http://speedsecretsweekly.com/

Cheap button box idea, so I'm probably going to build a button box, but I came across this site that converted a numeric key pad into one. Now I couldn't get GlovePIE to work, but just using the numeric key pad you can map to a number of the common functions within iRacing. I found a Targus wireless one for $17.09 on Amazon. I need to create labels for the buttons and figure where I'm going to mount it, but thought I would share the idea.
UPDATE: I would not recommend this wireless unit, the range stinks it wouldn't even work on this side of the wheel, will probably get an extender cable for the receiver part or just build the button box sooner.

That race was starting out fun and then it ended up poorly for me. Somehow Phil made it past my flying saucer. I thought I was passed those two on the inside that were getting together, but I wasn't . Looks like we have another good set of times with guys in the high 6's to low 8's for the bulk of the field.
