Once you are through each gear, the dash does the calculation for you based on the actual run out of the tires, gear ratios, and ring/pinion. I've always had good success with this method and my customers have as well.

Watched the entire video. Unfortunately, it didn't really go over the procedure for calculated gear beyond setting up the tab in RS3-- but it did have a lot of good info nonetheless! Made me really wish I had a speed sensor on a driven wheel.

@Matt Romanowski I set up the math channel per the image. However, where do I find the 'run gear calc' on the dash? Is it one of the side buttons on the MXS dash, or is it a tab in RS3 that appears when I am connected to the dash? Once I row through all the gears in this setting, where does the data get saved so that I can review it? I'm hoping that once I calibrate all the gears the dash will just store this info so I don't have to re-calibrate every time I turn the car off/on... Assuming this is the case, I just keep "calculated gear" as my selection in the display tab, correct? Hope what I am describing makes sense!

The settings do stay in the dash, so it's a one time deal. On the dash, you choose the top left button (menu) then >> button until you get to run gear calc. Then the OK button, then drive through the gears like described above. You do this once and the gears stay in the dash. You don't have to do anything else later.

Sort of a PITA. That's why most folks use Pre-Calc,

Hours of aim youtube is my grip. There seem to be no easy to access instructions for any of the proceedures. Good for u having the time and patients to sit through it.

Your trans ratios look right for a 997gt3. I cant really help u with 5th and 6th accuracy as my car gets to 147 or so mph in 4th and i havent shifted into 5th on the track.

My perameter page as promised.

I'd say all the guessing at ratios I've seen here is a PITA, but I think we've discussed before how I rarely have a problem with calculated gear and you can't figure it out

In the end, I just want the user to be successful in their setup and use of data.

Bingo All good to go! I had to re-do the calc b/c my first run was kind of slow and I noticed that in lower RPMs in 6th it would flip back and forth between 4th and 6th on the dash. Did a faster run on the second attempt, and downshifted through all the gears as well. Seems to be perfect now. Will be able to really test it when I take it on track. Really glad this is working b/c I have a CAE shifter in the car. Having the gear on the dash makes it much easier to confirm what gear I'm as I start downshifting. This was actually pretty easy to do.

Next up I'd like to see about getting:
- fuel level
- brake pressure
- oil pressure

Are these feasible with an MXS on the 6.2 GT3 platform? What does my shopping list need to be to accomplish these tasks?

Any reason why you don't need to select the box next to "select the channel for reference speed" to choose GPS?

Also, sent you a PM regarding what exactly I need to do/get for oil pressure.

dont know why its not checked. Maybe someone can explain what that botton does....as aim doesnt explain it well or make it easy to find out what its for. Again a "?" Symbol with a brief explaination would go a long way.

Ill pm u back.

Reference speed is GPS by default and you don't have a other speed channel to use, so no ability to check the box. The option is there for people who run indoors and don't have GPS.

@Matt Romanowski @ProCoach does anyone make a sensor to measure fuel level via MXS? I understand a gentleman named Jerry used to make a sensor for the MXL, but he is now deceased (https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...-aim-dash.html).

Jerry was a good friend and one of my instructors 20 years ago!

He used the Iron Canyon, now Bimmerworld device. I've never had good luck with them, but lots of folks have. When someone has a fuel cell, there are better options. For stock tanks, I wire in a resistor.

This is the AiM document on doing it https://www.aim-sportline.com/downlo...el_101_eng.pdf

I was reading many of Jerry’s posts last night. He seemed like a great guy.

I have a stock tank. Do I need to buy the bimmerworld set up? If not, what all do I need? Where is all the wiring going/tapping into?

You don't have to use the Bimmerworld device. If you know the full and empty resistance values, you can just use a resistor inline with the patch cable and the internal AiM filtering. Many times you can find the full and empty values with some searching on RL.

Is this what you are referring to https://www.aim-sportline.com/downlo...l_100_eng.pdf? Do you have a picture of how this would look in the car?

I had been looking for a fuel table, but haven’t found anything yet. Do you know where I could find one?

You can make a fuel table.

Pump the tank dry, add a gallon at a time until full, notate the resistance at the sender at each change of level. That way you can make a curve that equates how much fuel is in the tank at each resistance reading.
