Default Scratches on Clear Bra

I search the forum and did not find what I was looking for. I have some scratches on my clear bra and I would like to know how to remove them. My beautiful wife used her perfectly manicured finger nails to scratch off a bug or 2 and she scratched the clear bra.

So far I have tried Novus and Mequires plastic polishes by hand and they did not do anything.

Suggestions?

thanks, Mike

First you need to find out what type of film you have? Some have no clear film on top but 3M does have a film on top and I have been able to polish out some scratches, but not by hand.

You may need a polisher (like a nice orbital, PC or Cyclo) to work the marring out. For pads I would use a mild polishing pad, like Lake Country's white pad (6 inch model) and a mild polish like Menzerna FPII or Optimum Polish.

You can then use the Plexus to help protect.

Non coated films are not so easy when it comes to polishing. I have a few clients with non coated films and I never polish them but I do wipe them down with Optimum spray wax because it has UV absorbers in it.

if you have venture film, you might try park your car in blazing sun for an afternoon. that takes out swirls/scratches 90% of the time on venture film.

I have no idea what brand the film is. The dealer picked up the chrages of the clear bra when I went to pay for it as part of a thank you good will gesture due to some delivery issues with my car. The guy that did the film is no longer there.

I have scrubed and rubbed with Plexus, Novus polish and Nous cleaner and mequires Plastix polish. I tried some Mequires polish tonight and that dulled the film a little but did not take the scratches out. All by hand. I do not have a RO buffer but have been wanting to get one. i gues the Porter Cable is the best?

Most likely if it was from the dealer it's 3M film as Xpel has a deal with Porsche, or so I believe.

You'll need a polisher, like the PC, some soft finishing pads, either the Lake Country Blue pad or Optimum black finishing pad and make sure they are the 6 inch pads. The Lake Country white polishing pad can also be used but try the finishing pad first.

Menzerna Final Polish II works great for me and clear bra polishing. Now I can't guarantee the scratches will be removed BUT it should look a lot better when finished.

Check with your dealer and find out which film you have. If in fact you do have 3M, taking minor scratches out is with isopropyl alcohol....wipe it down with a clean towel and allow to dry in sunlight. As mooty pointed out, if it is with Venture's clearcoated film, heat does help with the scratches whether it is through direct sunlight or via artifical (heat gun).

If you have Venture Shield you can heat up the film until it's almost ready to melt, then pour cold water on immediately. I had a scratch fixed on my film this way, but I wouldn't try it myself. Contact your local installer.
