That's strange, As I have a 2024 Cayenne S Coupe' and the Homelink controls are on the rearview mirror, with the distinct buttons for 3 different doors/gates. I agree with the issue you described as that is what I was frustrated by with my prior 2 Porsches, a Taycan GTS and a 911 with the newer PCM. It was a mistake for Porsche to incorporate Homelink into the PCM for the very reasons you described. But I believe they rectified that with the 2024 Cayenne by placing the controls on the mirror.

Sorry, I completely disagree with your logic. Of course they should listen and improve their product. But when they make a bonehead mistake, fess up and make it right for the small number of owners that you left for dead.

Mine has the same issue because it was one of the earlier production cars. I really think Porsche should replace the rear view mirror with the one that has the Home Link button and reprogram the software. It was an obvious mistake and they should make it right.

yes my 2024 has this same screen and button but you can’t press it while your backing up. Pressing it does nothing until you’re done backing up and close the rear view camera mode. Newer 2024 cars that the homelink in the rear view mirror but a few early production cars like ours has this virtual button.

PCM Reverse Homelink Fixed?
Thanks @Ambitin for post #25 hinting about a software update. I don’t know if or when an OTA update took place, but I came back from a two week vacation, read the post and thought I’d take a look. Sure enough, the virtual opener button stays lit on the side lower corner of the screen while the reverse & 360 cameras are active AND I can now close the garage while backing out in reverse.
Important Notes:
1. The gps location has to be programmed. Without it, the homelink icon does not show up. Tried it both ways three times to confirm. Also, I programmed the gps location inside the garage so that it shows up right from the start. Upon returning, when pulling up to the house, the opener screen still pops up before reaching the curbside, even though the gps was programmed at the spot indoors.
2. Just like a garage remote clicker, it works best to hold the virtual button on the screen a second or two till the signal has been properly received. If I just tap it, it doesn’t work for me.
Note that I only have one profile programmed. Don’t know how this behaves with multiple ones.
For now I’m satisfied enough not to need to gripe about it anymore, especially given how awesome most of everything else is about this SUV.

Three Wheelin'
I have had 2024 since Nov. I see notifications/update messages all the time. I have never updated anything because my concern is that the car will end up with some other flaw. I am fine w the flaws it has currently. Oil pressure and voltage show as dashes. You have to change the view then change it back and it is okay.
does anyone know if there are detailed release notes for each update? and it would be nice to talk to people that have gone to a newer version and tested things out before making the leap. I am just not very trusting of automotive industry software updates.
