Default Routine Maintenance

Tell me about routine maintenance. I was quoted $1000-$1200 for 2 yr service which includes oil & filter change, cabin filter change & brake flush. Why is it so expensive & why does Porsche recommend flushing brakes every 2 yrs?

I have a 2019 Cayenne Base - 2.5 yrs old w/ 14,500 miles

***If there is another thread for maintenance questions, someone please link it & I'll delete this this post***

Hello Islandbound. You’re not the first Rennlister to have sticker shock over maintenance costs! No need to delete; this can serve as a compilation of threads about service costs. Here you go:

For what it’s worth, my 2 year service on my 2019 Cayenne with similar mileage cost $822.

Having just got my Cayenne I’ll be on the hunt for a decent independant Porsche shop for stuff I can’t do myself. If I’m in town near my friends shop I can do the oil changes myself (he has a lift). I’m sorry, I know it’s a Porsche, but an oil change is an oil change the process to change the oil on a Cayenne is the same as a Toyota or pretty much any other car. Changing the cabin filter is pretty simple and I question if the brake fluid really needs changing after 2 years but it’s still not that difficult to do either.

If you do your own maintenance, you may wish to invest in a computer to reset the service light. Here’s a thread you may find helpful:

Default 2022 4.0L oil-filter number?

Anyone know the Porsche part number for the '22 V8's oil folter? Is that a screw-on metal can now or still the replaceable pleated cartridge? I can't find one in a couple searches.

Pleated cartridge

Accessible under hood, between engine V, all the way at front under the torsion bar.

Is Purflux the OEM manufacturer of this filter? Pelican parts has three filters under this part number. One with the "Porsche Genuine Parts" designation and one with the "OEM" designation made by Purflux. The third one is made by Mann and has no designation. The part number is the same. I assume just the box (and price) is different?

Looks like there are 2 filters that fits the V* engine:
Porsche Engine Oil Filter - Purflux L1048 | FCP Euro
Audi Porsche Engine Oil Filter Kit - Hengst E914HD398 | FCP Euro

Wix filters are among the best available, I use them exclusively .. part # WL10372 the 4.8, their cabin filters are much better as well.

Be careful using non-OEM oil filters.

I lost the engine on a 2020 Ford Ranger doing that by using a Fram filter that turned out did not work on the Ranger engine, even though the cross reference charts said it did. . Warranty denied. Saving $ 3 to $ 5 on an oil filter vs a new engine was a hard lesson.

Here's the oil change procedure for the V8 Cayennes https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...s-cayenne.html

Yeah I always use OEM. That's why I was curious if the Purflux is the same as OEM just without the Porsche box. From what I have read it seems that Purflux makes the Porsche OEM filters but was just wondering if anyone had any further info on the matter.

FWIW, Purflux and Fram are sister companies.

Also, the filter for the Cayenne is not the Classic French Purflux with the wavy pleats. It’s the same old generic filter made somewhere in Eurasia.

Mann/Mahl/Hengst are German companies… except they also import from East Eurasia, and EU laws permit them to say “Made in Germany” if the final assembly is done there.

I’ll be doing an oil/filter service on a Cayenne I have put in a Purflux filter in a month or so. We’ll see how it held up.
