Just returned Autel MX808. Did not even power up when i tried to set it up. Autel was less than helpful, and seller was hesitant to take it back. After reading the rest of this thread I am glad I shipped it back. I will try icarsoft product instead. Thanks to all here for the great info
I've been looking at subscription charges too, seems its $88 annually which I'm ok with. My old Snap-On was so expensive I never updated it but it was still useable.

I think you'll be ok to try the Autel again. Just re-read your post. The Autel needs a good charge to work when brand new and needs to be plugged into charger whilst using and battery is low.

The yearly software upgrades cost between $80 to $1,400, depending on the model.
For the more advanced models, the yearly subcription cost almost half the device every single year, and if you don't have a valid subscription, your ECU, Coding, etc. online based server features will be disabled, making your $1,000+ device practically useless.

Where is everyone buying their iCarsoft devices? Amazon iCarsoft store is considerably cheaper than the iCarsoft site. Which is the definitive and best price place to purchase?

I retract my recommendation with full regrets. The MK808 will become a glorified OBD Scanner after the subscription expires. Without a paid connection to the Autel servers, one can’t reset the oil or maintenance light. Thankfully I did use my MK808 for 3 resets so I did save money over taking it to the dealer.
currently, I own a Launch Diagun IV which I bought 3 years ago, before I bought 2022 992.
The software expired after 2 years, so I didn't think it would work on 992, but I was going through the menu, and found out that Launch offers $20 per brand license for 1 year.
which was not clearly explained anywhere, and I always thought I had to pay $400 to renew license for the whole thing.
So I bought $20 1 year license each for Porsche and Mercedes, and updated software was able to handle my 2022 992.
And I was able to disable start/stop function. but the screen is a bit small, so I was thinking of getting Autel MK808, but now I will be looking at bigger screen Launch or Thinktool scan tool.

Just wanted to add another confirmation that iCarsoft POR V3.0 rest my old service light after an update. 2019 Cayenne Base 3.0t. I bought it off amazon for $179.00 and completed the DIY oil change myself in about 1 hour. Saved about $500 from my dealer quoted $775 oil change and cabin filter quote.
Some notes about about iCarsoft. You put the date in year.month.day.time and then select oil service or maintenance service. It will reset to 10,000 miles and one year on the day you enter I assume (I did the oil change and reset on the same day). You cannot select mileage if you wanted.

Any updates on the latest and greatest scan tool? iCarsoft looks compelling. I would also like to release the brakes for a brake job on my nephew's base Bacon. For me, and my CTT, need for oil etc. Your kind thoughts appreciated...
