Default Cayenne 3.0T JB4 - Wow, Mind blown

TLDR: Holy S***, I'm in love with this car all over again. Huge HP/TQ gains. Never thought, piggy backs can run this smoothly.

A little backstory - My overall past experience with the jb4 or any other piggybacks has never been very positive. I've had it on my m235i and f80 m3 and the unstable, inconsistent power delivery made the driving experience so terrible that I told myself that I'd never go piggyback again. Not only that, I never got that HP bump so many people praised about and assumed it was a placebo effect. Once I bought my 3.0T, I convinced myself for over a year that APR or similar shops will come out with a flash tune. After constant delays with no real promises of a flash tune, and knowing many of you are waiting for some sort of review, I decided to give JB4 one more shot. The hp/tq gains on s4/s5/sq5, etc seemed pretty promising, but I wasn't hoping for much since it hasn't been calibrated for the cayenne's.

I received the JB4 unit w/ bluetooth today and the install was much easier compared to BMW's. I would give it a 3/10 in terms of difficulty. All you need is a flat head and a 7mm wrench. Once installed and connected to the iOS app, the app detected the piggyback and updated the firmware automatically. I set the car to map 0 and let it idle for 10 min. I drove the car easily for a few miles until I felt that the ECU was smoothing out. I got on the freeway and decided to compare the maps on 3rd gear, 50 roll.

Map0: Stock tuning, disable JB4 - Even on map 0 the car does not feel the same. The TQ seemed to have increase drastically.
Map1: 2psi peak over stock (default) - Didn't even try this.
Map2: 3psi peak over stock - I thought, oh wow, there's a noticeable difference here. Pulled smoothly all the way up to redline and felt quicker than the Cayenne S.
Map3: 4psi peak over stock -Holy ****. I cant stop smiling. I'm not sure what it is, but the engine sounds much louder. The downshifts and acceleration is so dramatic, the sound of the turbo spools and diverter valve chirping makes the car so much more engaging. My buyers remorse for not going with a S or a Turbo is completely gone.

From a standstill, the cars eager to lunge forward. Still shocked with the difference. Overall, I can say firmly that I take everything negative back from burger tuning.

Edit: Now running map 5 @ 6.5psi. Pulling hard.

Here are the link's I used for the install.

Also gained a bit of diverter valve sound (towards end of video").

I see Burger Tuning JB4 has 2 options for the Cayenne;

https://burgertuning.com/collections...che-e3-cayenne
https://burgertuning.com/collections...amera-jb4-beta

Is the first option specific to the 3.0 Cayenne?

Now you're tempting me to go from an older GTS/Turbo to a new base! Bravo!

I've also been considering one of the JB4 units and key for me is to be able to quickly remove if I want to. One thing that concerned me a bit was it looked fairly difficult to fish the connector through the grommet in the firewall to get to the throttle connector. How did you find that process to be? Was the grommet easy to find, puncture, and to fish through?

Accessing the firewall was too much of a hassle, so I wired it between the fender and the door sill. I can take a photo if you'd like, but its a great fit and doesn't have any pressure points on the wires.

I'm also planning on visiting the dyno with some e85 in the tank.

I was afraid of that. A picture would be very helpful, if you don't mind.

I used a piggyback burger tuning on my BMW X5 diesel and it was great!

It's very well hidden with doors closed.

Hitting 18.9 psi on Map 3, where as I'm seeing 15psi max stock. Need to fill her up with e85 and try map 4/5 and dyno.

IMO having such a vital electrical wiring connection in an area with so much movement is a not a great idea ...
