So just installing a set up like Hanks Cold Air Intakes wont really be a gain unless you run a Ram Air set up with them ??

Air filter won't do anything as the stock filters flow more than enough air. IPD plenum doesn't add power - the owner of IPD has stated this. Diverter valves are a useless mod unless you enjoy rebuilding them constantly. The factory 710 valve will hold way more boost than any chipped CTT, and they work reliably until they fail (which is likely well beyond 10 years and 100K miles for most people).
Honestly, that's a sad looking mod list.
AR Design downpipes, water/meth injection, a custom tune. Maybe some larger custom IC's. None of that will be cheap, however.

secondary cat bypass seems to help a little bit. also is very cheap, makes sound better and passes emissions even in California. But I think the only real fix is to wait for the 2018 model. This engine is old school, and lag is the hardest to address with mods - it takes full redesign to make much difference (hot V layout, prespool tech etc.)

HHR is pleased to offer our new secondary cat bypass pipes for the 958 (2011-2016) Cayenne S-V8, Turbo, Turbo S and the new Turbo GTS-V6.
A quick note about tube sizing (2.5" or 3") for our secondary pipes: The factory pipes on the Cayenne S-V8 (non-Turbo) measure 2.36" OD, and the factory pipes on the Cayenne Turbo and the new 2016 GTS-V6 Turbo measure approx. 2.56" OD. So, our 2.5" secondary pipes will flow better than the factory cat pipe, will fit better and will connect more easily to your factory midpipe. The 3" version will flow better through the secondary and will provide a more open, "boomy" sound. However, you will maximize the benefits from the 3" version if you upgrade to our full 3" midpipe and rear exhaust. Both our 2.5" and our 3" secondary bypass pipes include adapters to transition from our tubes to the factory 2.36" or 2.56" OD midpipe.
The stock Porsche Cayenne has 2 sets of (4 total) catalytic converters and this bypass removes the rear set of cats (you will still have one full set remaining on the car) to increase HP/TQ, sound levels by a marginal amount and provide incremental weight savings.
This kit includes the bypass pipes, two aluminum gaskets, and nuts/bolts to connect to the factory downpipes. The secondaries attach to the factory midpipe reusing the factory sleeve clamps.
We hand manufacture our own bypasses in Denver, Colorado. The tubing, flange, and hangers are made from 304 stainless steel with a matte brushed finish. We utilize a 2.5" or 3" tube which mates up to the factory down pipes in front, then to the factory exhaust midpipe. Our flanges are made from 3/8" stainless steel, CAD-designed to match the factory flanges, and are precision waterjet-cut.
Bypass pipes will provide a power increase in the low-end and mid-range power band on a CTT and most importantly allow the turbos to spool significantly quicker. This product will provide significant power peak gains after an ECU tune, but a tune is not necessary to feel their benefit. It is a noticeable difference and you will feel the difference the first time you drive with them installed, with or without a custom tune.
We believe this is a DIY project for anyone capable of operating a wrench. We provide detailed instructions, needed hardware and gaskets. This project is estimated at 120 minutes.
Plan for these pipes to be ready to ship approx. 3 business days after cleared payment. "Free Shipping" applies to U.S. domestic orders only. Thanks! -Hank

Why would cat bypass pipes allow exhaust into the car? All the plumbing to take the exhaust to the tailpipes is still in-place, it just doesn't have restrictive cats in the pipes anymore. The only way I could see this happening is if they were installed incorrectly (poor alignment, reusing the old, original gasket instead of new ones, etc)
