Default DIESEL - Transfer case fluid

What’s everyone using for transfer case fluid on their DIESEL transfer cases? There are hundreds of posts about the standard transfer case fluids and additives, but little on the Diesel boxes which are an entirely different unit. My only findings so far are the oem Porsche / VAG fluids.

Thanks!

Got mine from dealership.

Do NOT over tighten the fill and drain plugs

I’ve been trying to figure that out for a few days now..

Just to set the record straight:
  • Cayenne V6 3.0T Hybrid and Diesel use straight synthetic 75w-90 gear oil in their transfer cases. I'm a fan of Valvoline for the gear oils.
  • Cayenne Base V6 (3.6) S/Turbo, V8 and Turbo use the fancy DTF-1/TF-0870 fluid in their transfer cases.
I guess I’ll be buying 3liters of 75w-90 tomorrow

Was planning TC+2 diffs.
Picking up my first ever Porsche tomorrow. Guessing tc+diff oil has never been changed, so I figured I’ll do all while I’m at it

Thanks for the replies. I won’t start the which 75w90 is best as that is about like a Coke vs Pepsi discussion. I generally have used Redline gear oil in all the other toys, but it seems Ravenel is pretty popular with the Porsche crowd.

Quick update:
Changed from pretty black oil to fresh 75w-90 and the gear changes went from pretty good to smooth as butter
