Best year for 958.1 and best motor? I'm looking at '14 model S non turbo v-8

I am the original owner of a 2014 Cayenne S with 100,000 miles. Very solid and comfortable vehicle, with steel springs and 14 way seats. I went wild and ordered PSE, and it’s a treat with the NA V8.
mostly regular maintenance, except I have recently replaced the water pump and thermostat, which is probably not too unusual at that milage.
My wife is the primary driver, and she wants a new Cayenne. I have driven a couple of new base Cayennes , and they seem a little less substantial, but still very good.
I’m seriously considering keeping the 2014 even if I go with a new Cayenne, and keep the old one as a beater. Mike

I've head that and it doesn't surprise me. Does the '13 diesel have the same transfer gear issue as gas models? Any well known trouble issues with a '13 turbo diesel? Thanks

Thanks I appreciate the info. Believe it or not, I miss driving and my old fifth wheel (40') with a F-350 6.7 turbo diesel. It was the platinum trim and would almost drive itself on the freeway. You've about convinced me to go with diesel. Does the diesel have the same transfer gear issue as gas models? I'm looking at a '13 model Do you run number 1? I had a hard time finding number one when pulling the fifth wheel.

The forum has lots of chatter on this: rear main seal oil leaks, coolant leaks, EGR failure, DPF failures, injector issues, high pressure fuel pump failures, DEF heater failures…

I bought a 2014 S from the original owner. 130,000 miles on it. She had it serviced from day 1 by the Porsche dealer she bought it from. I have all of the records. She followed Porsches recommended service intervals, and other than that, very little else has been done to it. Front air suspension was replaced at 120,000 and the coolant vent tube gave out at 128,000. That's it. The rest is consumables. Fluids, brakes, air filters, wiper blades. Super reliable IMO

Do you have PTV Plus (rare on an S, but possible)? They tend to "crunch" in low speed turns as they wear out.
Overall a 2011 will be the same as a 2014 regarding aging out of parts: Low miles really just means it is not likely to have as many missed services. But it still has all the same door latches, plastic coolant fittings, suspension bits, that age out. If it was a desert car stored outside, be sure the headliner isn't drooping.

I hate the crunching sound. Any way to get rid of it?

I love my 15 CD. Great on fuel, very comfortable on short and long trips, an absolute rocket ship on the highway (while still getting outstanding MPG) and quick enough for me around town and even on most curvy roads. Any Porsche will have their maintenance issues to deal with, but if you keep up on things, the major failures are few and far between.
If you want a better handling vehicle, may I suggest something along the 911 flavor (along with the CD!)?
