I thought our cars were hid. Don't you have to remove the ballast and change a bunch of stuff?

They do have HID/Xenon bulbs, but the LED unit is plug n play. You can see the pics above showing it. Easy upgrade.
I’ll likely do the fogs next:

Couple of Q's in regard to this update:
Your globe and adapter the green circle clip (adapter) are totally different to my 2011 H7 globes and adapters.
Did they change the setup ...mine has spring steel adapters like in the attached YouTube clip
Also are both high and low beam bulbs H7 and if so what did owners do with the two different luminescence.
For example I see only really high wattage lights and don't want to be blinding other road users on low beam.
Unsure as to the best path.

In the OP's case, no, not H7. He had the HID bulb for his lo beam, so it won't look like that video because the ones in the video are halogen.

I thought both H1 and H7 in Cayenne were Halogen.
H1 High beam and H7 low beam.
I have ordered H1 x2 and H7 x2 with adapters as listed in that YouTube video.
Either way the lighting is terrible in a Marque prestige vehicle and needs updating ASAP.
My daughters Hyundai has better lighting.

On the recommendation of some friends I ordered some Osram Nightbreakers for the low beam and will install and report back this week.

I never knew that the 958 cayenne came with Halogens. I thought that every single Cayenne was HID.

(or LED...)

But I'm surprised too that a 958 would have a halogen low beam. (High beams and fogs, sure, but low beam?)

Hi Chakka,

I have a 2011 Cayenne Turbo. I'd like to replace my low beam HID bulb(35 w D1S) with the proper led replacement. I assume I would get the 35w D1S D1R led replacement bulb? The D1S says its 80w which I assume is not compatible.

I notice you got the 35w D3S D3R bulb. Was your low beam HID bulb 35w D3S?

Thanks in advance

Remove lense...
Dude, you left out the best part...using the special tool to remove the headlight housing. Even easier than changing an H4 bulb on a Volvo 145S (with ecodes, of course).

When I had to change my bulbs I was WTF? You do what to change the bulb?
That really isn't common knowledge until you need to change a bulb on your first Cayenne.

Not if you have the Xenon (i.e. HID) lights. Then only the high beam and cornering lights are halogen. The low beams are HID.

I guess after doing it on a 2011 beetle years back and my 05' Cayenne, I didn't mention it, but it is not what you'd expect for sure. It does make the bulb change simple without ripping up your knuckles. Only trick is the re-install to get the metal tab to engage.
