Default Transfer Case Failure

I know, old news, but I took my 2016 with 32,000 miles to the dealership today suspicious of a failure and I was right. Transfer Case failure.

100% covered!!!

Wow…

Some questions< What were your symptoms? Did you drive it in or have it towed? Was the fluid ever changed? I'm wondering if I need to do a fluid change next oil change, never been changed . 2017 CS 24K miles

If it is under warranty, I would recommend not changing the fluid. https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...non-turbo.html

I had two specific symptoms. First was a thumping like going over creases in the road when accelerating from a stop after it’s warmed up.

The second symptom was a feeling like it was slipping or not fully engaging in the rear, again upon acceleration.

I was lucky and drove it to the dealer.

Had mine replaced last week. Shuddering and juddering, especially at low speeds and turns. Replaced under warranty. Porsche has extended warranty on the transfer case. Runs smooth now.

My 2013 is experiencing the same symptoms. I had to push my appointment back to 3/11/22. Wish me luck. I'm hoping they just go ahead and replace the TC without a fight.

I do wish you luck. And I think since yours is a 2013, you will be fine. They will do it under the new 10yr warrenty.

My CTT is a 2012, and I'm on my 3rd TC, this last one was replaced last Spring at 65k miles. No cost to me since it was still within the 10 yr extended warranty that the dealerships can invoke.

My concern is that the next one (which, at the rate I drive mine), will probably not be for another 1.5 -to- 2 years from now, and thus beyond the extended 10yr (from my original "in-service" date, which is July 2022 for me).
Something tells me I'll be paying for the next one,.. and with the horrible rapid depreciation these SUV's suffer,... The $6k replacement cost will be close to 1/4 the value of the vehicle!!! ..... ouch.

I don’t think you’ll get a fight at all. Apparently this is common and it’s 100% covered. I got no push back at all…

That’s good to hear, no issues at all?

Do you feel confident? That was my biggest issue, I didn’t have confidence.

Why can’t they fix the issue and not have us have to worry about future failures???
