Well, just as a followup, the dealer called me the same day to tell me they couldn't find anything wrong, but at least I got it documented. Kudos to the dealership, they didn't charge me a diagnostic fee, but did send me home & back in an Alto ride car.

If the leak is what I think it is, they will probably never "find" it unless you point it out. I went round and round with a dealership over this, and probably burned that bridge, as I knew it was leaking because I smelled it every day and had to add coolant, but they insisted they pressure tested it and left it overnight and didn't see any pressure drop, etc. so there was no leak. Period.
I had to find a place where I could see coolant puddled in the V of the engine and then take pics, then went to the only other dealer in the state - they fixed it, but it wasn't covered under the warranty because of my mileage at the time

Good points. I have no evidence of the leak yet other than a whiff of coolant, but I have a sensitive sniffer. Level is not low yet, and they filled it at 90k when they did the RTC cover.

But I'm going to have it to my indy this week for an oil change and ask them to search and take pics if they can find anything that's not too time-consuming for them to fix. Or maybe they'll tell me that for an EGR/DEF delete they'd be in that area anyway, and then I'll just go that route.

I also have a small coolant leak in the V of my 2012 CD, but not large enough for me to worry yet.

I spotted it by adding dye in the coolant. It is not easy to see it, you need to poke down between pipes and other stuff at the rear of the engine.
It smells only when the engine is warm, so my local Porsche Service centre was not able to find the leak without the dye.
Their repair price estimate was large enough to make me live with the smell as long as possible.
Cheers,
Tore

my CD is at the dealership now for this coolant leak. they removed the intake and found a valley full of coolant. coolant crust on oil cooler and cover behind water pump. they are going to reseal the oil cooler and bracket, replacing cover behind water pump and I think another part?

my CD is covered under dieselgate but this repair does not seemed to be covered... I was hopeful but based on the comments in this forum, I knew to expect the worst. I am just going to have the dealership do it. I just do not have time to it do myself right now.

TBD how much this is going to cost me in the end, as this is in-progress
$3400 current estimate (before tax)
ouch

Default list of p/n

here is the list of p/n on order/being replaced. It is just a bunch
gaskets and hoses but no idea if any of these p/n's should be covered under dieselgate warranty.
& if it is just a gasket to get to another part, then is it kinda of a grey area? maybe there a case for (some?) goodwill.... TBD

Just had the dealership quote me $5900 to fix the coolant leak under the manifold. The cayanne is at 160K and out of warranty now. Any suggestions? The mechanic said its slow and top it off when the light comes on as we've been doing. Still want to fix it one day. Audi or VW dealer do this work too?

Find an indy mechanic that works on TDIs? When mine had this, I had the EGR/DEF delete + tune along with fixing the leaks and it was less than you're talking.

I'm not sure but I think the VW settlement documents said something like the whole engine and drive train. I wonder if there needs to be some contact with the Court where the Settlement was made for clarification. It seems funny that some dealers claim some things are covered while other dealers say no , not covered. Not sure you can rely on POA to be correct in interpreting the Settlement after all they are the ones that basically are responsible for the original cheat and Settlement. It is troubling that so much seems to go wrong with these cars. I wonder if they are just 'cash cows' for VW/POA?

I would say to just top it off when the light comes off. Not worth to spend that much, or even half of that, to repair on a car with 160k miles...

Has anyone been able to get the oil cooler repair/replacement successfully covered under warranty either extended up to 100K or extended diesel gate warranty? I have had the EGR cooler replaced already last year under warranty, and now the oil cooler is leaking/failing and the dealer is denying warranty coverage. I am sub 100K miles and under the extended emissions program. surely this can be picked up somewhere?

We just had our fixed but outside of warranty by an independant shop. It was the EGR cooler causing the leak under there. The dealership wanted around 5k+, the independant shop was around $2,100....... Just in case you have to go that route.

Thank you! I appreciate the info/insight; if for whatever reason I cant get someone to take care of this under warranty, especially given that the EGR and all related issues/seals already were taken care of but the cooler wasnt done at the same time; I will just be ordering and doing the repair myself.

It seems that under the warranty (diesel gate ) that the dealer should still be covering the fix. If it was me I would talk to POA if the dealer refuses. I don't think the warranty says one time fix. I would go that route before taking the job on yourself. I had two different dealers tell me that oil leaks were not covered, I knew that was not correct and went to my 'go to expert' dealer who did the fix once they found the leaks. Some dealers or at least their service writers just don't know about the diesel gate warranty.
