My brother in law water locked a car once.

Insurance company asked "did you drive through the deep puddle on purpose?"

When he said no, they covered the repair.

I might call my insurance company and state "I did *not* drive through any deep puddles on purpose. Do I get any money?"

During a rainstorm this year, I had a client pull out of the Mercedes dealership I used to work at in a $70k loaner car. She made an immediate right and sunk the car at the light at the end of the block. Totaled the car. It was bobbing with the trunk up out of the water and bouncing off other cars.
