My Cayenne S was running a little hot last week. Got a new thermostat...much better now.
But is this the best it gets on engine temps or is this still a little too hot?
And oil temp never goes over 217... shouldn't it always be cooler than the engine?
And how about that pressure?
This is a 201 Cayenne S, with 78K miles on it. Thanks for any feedback
Driving up the 15 towards Victorville, Ca in 100-degree weather the hottest my engine got was 237 F and oil 242 F, on flat ground and going downhill,
The engine was 200 F, oil 230 F
Driving around the neighborhood to the store and back, engine 200F/ oil 217F
Is this somewhat reasonable for a 2015 Cayenne S with 78K miles?
The engine temps were never stuck at hot levels, nothing constant, just fluctuated according to speed and terrain (and outside temps I guess).
Did a drive from Universal City to Van Nuys airport and back
My 958 is determined to keep the engine temp at 200 but it just can't help itself. It rises when accelerating up a freeway ramp and then drops back down to normal, which is a good sign. Then for no reason, it will go to 204 or 206 before dropping back to 200. At stoplights the engine heat burps up to 206/204 and then a few seconds later is quietly rests at 200.
The oil temp is all over the place.
Do these numbers look like I have sick car to you?
78K miles on it. (2015)
It drives beautifully. No warning lights, Just a moody engine... brand new thermostat was installed 2 weeks ago.
Actually, I may have found the culprit.... After reading and reading on forums about this, and knowing that a radiator cooling flap showed up as a fault from the dealership, I reached in and manually opened the radiator cooling flaps....now the radiator can BREATH !!!
I started the engine and they did not auto-close... Tomorrow I will take it for a cruise and stop and check and see if the cooling flaps auto close while I'm driving unbeknown to me. If they do I'll get a Porsche mechanic to disable them (remove fuse or disconnect switch) .
This I think is the culprit for very warm temps from my engine... especially since the dealership ruled out a faulty water pump and replaced the thermostat
