Default Wheel weight

Does anyone know the weight of each Cayenne rim offered by Porsche? I am looking for the lightest rim.

Anyone anyone? Does anyone have Cayenne wheels that they can weigh? Maybe we can use this thread to keep track of wheel weights for each kind of Cayenne rim.

I hate to be a snot, but does it really matter. When we're talking about 4500lb SUVs, 3lbs one way or another on wheel weight isn't super material. Yes, unsprung reciprocating mass, I get it, but its not turning a cayenne into a lotus or a peterbuilt.

Well, I'm not going to pull a wheel just to weight it but next time it's off, I'll toss it on the scale. Mine is not a stock wheel though. VFF 103's FTW!

also tire weights tend to vary a bit, so its not down to the actual wheel anyway.

The only stock wheel that I have is the 18'' that only fits the base car and the diesels, maybe S too? It weighs 31 lbs which is pretty hefty but to its credit, it has a ton load limit and it's survived 9 winters so far without any problems.

IMHO, wheel weight impacts the car a lot. It's pretty easy to tell when you lose 5 lbs on each corner.

Do you have a picture of that wheel?

Thats the same wheel I have on my 2014 S. Good to know the weight. I did a bit of nosing around and BBS makes a nice wheel called the SR that weighs only 26 pounds in size 18 x 8. I'm trying to determine if I want to go to a 20 inch rim or stick with the stock size of 18. The twenties look better but are heavier. Any thoughts there?

Also I am wondering if anyone who has put on staggered rims can give feedback as this may affect the all-wheel drive system. The Panamera and 911 have some nice lightweight Wheels but they are staggered. Also I'm not sure if they can handle the load capacity of a Cayenne.

That would be at the top of my list AND the pretty amazing loads it can carry and tow. It was a concern when I bought a second set of wheels to add winter shoes to. Ended up buying the same ones that were already stock so concern went to zero.

That BBS SR looks good. Load limit should be stamped on the wheel. If you call up the retailer, they should be able to tell you what it is.

Agree 100 percent! Especially if you drive more than around town.
OEM Michelin Latitude Tour HP - Size: 255/55R18 weigh 34# each = 136# for four
BFG - All-Terrain T/A KO2 - 255/55R18 weigh 44.5# each = 178# for four
Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8s - 255/55R18 weigh 46# each = 184# for four
For us the impact is greater as we always carry two spares
Three season six BFG KO2 - 6ea = 267#
For winter Hakka 8s - 6ea = 276#
Justified the heavy three season KO2 tires for the thicker walls, puncture resistance, and aggressive tread for rough terrain.
Studded Hakka's are the best winter tire we have found, especially for ice racing and driving north of the Arctic Circle.
We are very conscious of weight for both off and on paved surfaces. Especially important as we also have a full set of skid plates, roll bar, rock sliders, bush bar, fridge/freezer, winch, Wilco Hitchgate, full recovery gear set, 18 gallons of water, 8x8x8 room, kitchen etc.
The Michelin Latitude's were good to get both of us 1st place in class for a season of AutoX. Had to wear them out prior to getting proper rubber! Bottom line for us is the best tool for the job.

that sounds like some pretty aggressive off-roading that you do. I've been to the Arctic Circle and near the North Pole but only on a motorcycle.

I would imagine most street tires are going to be fairly close in weight. The weight of the tire could have a significant difference but my thought is to find a nice-looking rim thats fairly light. Any thought on the rendering below?
