Auto Spies: What's wrong with the Cayenne?

What's wrong with the Cayenne?
We get to the heart of the matter
As you know, we haven't been exactly enamored with the Porsche Cayenne.
We think:
1. It's ugly
2. It's too expensive
3. It needs a third row seat
4. Performance should absolutely kill everything else in the category but it doesn't
Well, the absolute insult of insults was just handed to the Cayenne...
It LOST in this month's Car and Driver comparison to the CADILLAC SRX!!!
HELLO????
Do we have to say more?
How does Porsche fix the problem?
We have the solutions...
1. Refresh the front and side view of the SUV...dump the "Blowfish" look.
2. Price the "S" at $50K LOADED.
3. Price the Turbo at $70K loaded.
4. Dump even the thought of a 6-cylinder version...it will only embarrass them in the end.
5. Lease the existing inventory at a giveaway lease price of $599 for the "S" and $899 for the "Turbo" and let people fall in love with the truck.
6. Put a GOOD looking set of wheels on the damn thing!
7. Make the "S" perform even better

I doubt it. Porsche has the largest profit margins in the business, some highly overpaid executives and even they admit they need to cut production costs.
If VW can do it for well under 50 Porsche can certainly do it for around 50.
And quit making the dealers take the hit.
And I (no doubt along with a lot of other folks) would buy one.

OK. VW & PAG joint ventured the carraige.
VW took a off the shelf Audi engine & installed it in Treg.
PAG put in an entire new engine. That has to be amortised within the car price, in addition to the mark up.
Manufacturing 101.......
If PAG developed the carrriage alone, it would be over 100K.
Who really gives a flying f*** for a subjective opinion on auto spies.
If you have a Pepper - you know what you got; If price is a factor buy used or a Treg, If you think it's ugly - Buy a Cadillac , they have models with nice gold medallions.
