I read through all of the other complaints in this forum about Seicane and decided to "chance it".

What a mistake. This company is garbage. A giant waste of my time and money.

Looking for another solution to my Stereo woes.

It looks like these are available on eBay, which is nice. I bit better customer protection. I see that there are a couple versions of Android OS, but the newer OS-outfitted unit is lower price than the older - 7.1 v 6.0

Looks like it is the actual hardware you are paying for, not the OS.

One is a 4-core unit, the more expensive one is 8-core.

Has anyone had any luck with these Android units for the Cayenne, or is it a total bust? Also, anyone with an iPhone have positive feedback? Not sure how an iPhone will integrate with the Android system.

Depends what you consider a total bust. If you're looking for completely problem free experiences, probably close to complete bust. I for one bought the 1st gen unit with nearly every option except the TV antenna. The radio doesn't work well enough to be useful. The DVD player died on second use. Never got the mirrorlink to work. None of which they will fix. And it occasionally ****s the bed and I have to reboot pulling fuses. The rest of the time though, I have a 9" android with working Pandora, Waze, Youtube, Internet. That's not nothing, but it's not what I paid for. If you go into it with your eyes wide open and accept that you may have to swap parts at your own expense, you'll have some varying degree of success as have we all. If I had it to do over, my dollar votes would go elsewhere. They don't deserve to be in business. But if you must have a 9" flat panel android, there really isn't an alternative and they'll keep selling them as a result. If mine died today, I'd have a serious crisis of conscience as I and the kids have gotten used to it. I might well buy another one from the cheapest supplier possible. But I wish I wouldn't.

I just ditched my Android unit for the Dynavin with the ilink Apple CarPlay add on. Definitely a better experience. I plan to post a review comparing both in the next few weeks.

I purchased on May 10th, have spent 2 appointments in professional shops, and had to pay return shipping to send the faulty unit back. It's your turn to trust me to cancel the Paypal claim when I receive the functioning unit that I originally paid for.

If I cancel my paypal claim, it cannot be re-opened. This is a risk I will not take with the support that you have provided to this point.

You have a good product and I really would like it. Please expedite shipping of a working unit and I will close my claim as soon as it is received.

Paypal escalated the dispute to a claim. I don't know why this happened, but I will figure out why.

Please send my replacement head unit quickly so that I can prove it works and cancel the claim.

As already explained, I have taken this unit to a professional installer. The cars original head stereo is wired correctly functioning properly. YOUR Seicane stereo will heat up to 160 degrees as soon as the power harness is plugged in (EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF). There is a fault in the wiring harness, or the head unit that you sent me.

I am going to open up a Paypal dispute. If you cannot ship me a properly working item through that resolution, then a full refund will do.

This does not have to do with outdoor temp. My stereo will heat up to this degree within 3-4 minutes of plugging in the power harness ONLY. The keys are out of the ignition.

The attached picture links show the 3 wires at 12Volts, and the Temperature of the Stereo at approx 160 degrees F. The stereo DOES work when powered on. I'm still very concerned about the temperature as I think this will eventually melt something.

Eliminate the MOST box and other connections out of the equation. The unit will heat up with ONLY the power harness plugged in.

I found a professional installer (as recommended) to install the unit shipped to me.

Within 1 minute of plugging in the main harness and turning on the car, the head unit starts to smell of burning electronics and is VERY hot to the touch.
The unit DOES power on and boot up, however the heat generated WILL cause a fire in my vehicle. The professional installed will not continue to install the unit and recommends I return it due to this problem.

Is there a heat sink or something inside that may not be working correctly?
How do we go about getting me a new head unit?

I have taken my car to a professional service installer and they refuse to accept my business due to some reputation issues with these imported units.

Attached is a picture of my stock cabling. I know the clip on the left has a spot in the new stereo. The Fiber optic cable will go into the MOST box.

I am not saying this was your problem, but with radios and such it can be very important not to power them on without the antenna attached. In fact you can seriously damage them otherwise. This is mostly with tx, but who knows. Again, I am not saying that this is your problem, but the lack of antenna connections in your images where you have high temps could be your problem. It's something you can check, but if you let it cook it may already have larger issues.

Take the top of the unit and look at the rear. Typically in these units the heatsink for the audio is in the location where you have heat. It could be that your unit has some solder issues, but if you are comfortable around circuit boards and solder you could look and see if you see anything obviously wrong. Electronic smell from these units is common and many times related to the fact that they can use the chemicals most of us can't anymore for wash etc. You may also have issues with the connector/socket with shorts.

It should not get that hot. I have several android units for my other cars and they never get that hot. Bench testing is always good so at least it was done before you installed. Defects do happen.

Does anybody know if Dynavin will work with the factory backup camera? Or any aftermarket head unit that will work with the factory backup camera?

I love mine and haven't had many issues. I have a second unused unit that I am willing to sell to someone on this forum. I bought in eager anticipation of a second Cayenne purchase for my wife, but she opted for a different.

I need to sell it. $550 or best offer.

Well I chanced it and ordered a 9 inch Android 7.1 unit from AliExpress for $283...figured it was the same hardware as the Seicane unit and they dont seem like much help if something goes wrong anyway. Sourcing the MOST box, BT OBDII, USB TPMS (current TPMS doesnt even work and no warnings?), and a 4G dongle from Ebay. Hopefully it all works...wish me luck

Will post back in a few weeks when i get everything from China and try to get it installed.

GOOD LUCK! Very curious to hear how it goes. You are correct that Seicane customer service is infuriating at best and next to worthless.

At that price, gotta say it's hard to go wrong. Just test everything quickly. I'd have skipped the OBDII though. I got it and while it works and it's interesting, it's a big module hanging down under the dash so I don't leave it plugged it.
