Anyone else have a Steering column replacement

you can have Speedo solutions do the fix and and a mechanic fit and remove it - this is what I did.

I shipped my parts from UAE to US. Saved a tone of cash, as the labour is quite cheap. Didnt even take that long!

Previous owner before my CTTS had this done before his failed. Looking at the invoice, this was around $7k+ repair. Now I'm wondering how long this one will last. Great to know there is a better option out there.

I wound up flatbedding the rig over to The Porsche Specialists in Broomall, PA (that's a whole other story -- the driver took someone else's Cayenne off the Porsche of Warrington lot and delivered it 30 miles away, and they had to correct that error the following day).
Decided to replace the column after all. Added a second key to the mix. New (manual tilt/zoom) column and new key plus labor was $2750. Plus a $250 tow.
If it had still been sitting in my driveway, I would have tried the Speedosolutions option first, before shipping it off, I think.
Thanks, everyone, for the advice, and thanks Vulcan for the advice plus the effort to reduce the wait time on parts. Appreciate you guys.

Long-term update:
Steering column replacement seemed to work, but three weeks later, the Cayenne bricked itself in the driveway again.
In the end we replaced the KESSY control module, and it's been running as expected now for 6 months. The steering column replacement likely was unnecessary.

Thanks for getting back to us with the resolution to the problem. It's very helpful when someone closes the loop so to speak. Makes the thread valuable to the next person with the same problem.

Just an overdue update.
I had this issue, was able to follow the instructions above. First I ordered the replacement relays from China, thought this would do the trick, Pulled the circuit board and replaced the relays outlined in post #13, when I removed the relays I noted a trace wire under one of the relays was broken. Not a good sign,
Contacted Speedosolutions.com ordered the "fix" shipped off the required parts. 10 days later reinstalled the locking mechanism and immobiliser controller and it worked perfectly.
Not the easiest part to remove, but doable, and at 1/8 the cost of replacing the steering column very well worth the effort.

Great post! I’m undertaking the same task right now. Got the module off and brushing up on my soldering skills. Did you ever figure out how to get the CAN to wake up? I’m having the same problem. My durametric won’t connect despite trying the brakes for 30 seconds and trying with the hazards on.
