Default Dear Porsche...

With the launch of the new Macan, a refresh of the Cayenne is in order. Here's what I would like to see in the 2015 models:
  1. PDK Option with a "no offroad" disclaimer
  2. New tail lights similar to the Macan
  3. Larger Mirrors
  4. New door "hinges" kinda like the Panny's strut like system.
  5. A wider rear door opening
  6. Reposition the rear wiper under the spoiler - a la Range rover and Lexus
  7. An improved exhaust sound
  8. A lift gate that can be CLOSED w/ the key
  9. A high resolution rear camera
  10. Camera and parking sensors STANDARD
  11. The ability to add roof rails later. This pisses me off
  12. A MF steering wheel w/ PADDLE shifters just like the Macan
  13. A larger, higher resolution PCM Screen. 7inches in a sports car is fine, not so in the larger models
  14. Additional cupholders above the glove box like a 911
  15. More USB outlets in front AND rear
  16. Increase the depth of the rear seat cushions. Its so short for adults
  17. Increase the range of motion of the rear seat backs
  18. A tab or pull of some sort on the rear armrest
  19. Additional air vents in the rear, perhaps in the B pillars

and of course this goes w/o saying MORE POWER and LESS WEIGHT!

You can do it!

Sincerely
A PIG owner

Well as long as you know not to hold your breath

I would add:
Hatch glass that opens.
Rear seats that fold flat and level with the cargo bay.
Ditch the PCM garbage and get an interface that is more in line with the rest of the world.

Yes i was gonna ask for that too, especially a mini tailgate like an x5 and range rover but i didnt want to be needy!

1) PDK Option with a "no offroad" disclaimer
What use would an SUV that cannot tow or go offroad be? Just put those physics defying Porsche engineers to work coming up with a PDK that can handle to torque strain of towing, and the gentle and accurate take-up needed for off-roading.

Rear seats that fold flat and level with the cargo bay.
Had a Vibe (Toyota Matrix) way back, damn I miss those flat folding seats including the front passenger. The interior became like a cargo van. I think that tiny car could cary more than the Cayenne!!!

a mini tailgate like an x5
Definitely miss the tailgate from my X5 ... much better for loading without scratching the bumper, and for supporting longer loads!

A wider rear door opening
Would love that, current hatch is very narrow for this size of vehicle. Unfortunately very hard to achieve without breadbox styling!

Ditch the PCM garbage and get an interface that is more in line with the rest of the world.
I think the whole industry needs to move away from these proprietary systems with overpriced piecemeal options. Look how much an iPad or Android device can do for a fraction of the price ... and so much more elegant! Would be nice to just airplay my iPhone to the screen/speakers. Maps, compass, Email, SMS, streaming music, video's, and a million other apps and regular updates all for free! Ridiculous how the auto industry is trying to re-invent these one at a time with such poor results.

Camera and parking sensors STANDARD
And throw in Xenon lights and Nav while you are at it, many cheaper vehicles come with all these gimmicks included instead of thousands $$$ each!!! Yellow headlights standard on a $100K Porsche, Really?

At least in the price arena for the V6 and diesel, HIDs were an option on everything I looked at and not even an option on some brands. Porsche was the most expensive to add it though (unless you look at the Explorer where you had to get the top package that took it to around 50 or 55!!!).

How about building an engine/trans that doesn't blow up 20 min after warranty expires?
How about building a Porsche but have a Hyundai warranty?
And a word of warning. If Porsche quality decreases and becomes par with VW, your done.

In the current model, you get air vents on the B-pillar when you have 4-zone climate control.

Assuming this list is accurate:
http://cars.findthebest.com/d/s/Xeno...D_-_LED-Lights

Everything from Volvos, Volkswagens, Jeep Cherokee, Toyota Corrolas, Chevorlet Impalas, and 366 other models now come with standard HID or LED!

the new facelift cayenne is just a refresh. headlights/tails/bumpers/slight option and interior changes and engine changes..

look at the new panamera changes, that's what we'll get.. and it's this coming fall as a 2015 model year..

the new facelifted cayenne launches same time as the base model macan (makes me think they might delay the v6 cayenne to promote base 4cyl macan sales (we will see))

they are smart to offer S and turbo macan first cause otherwise people would just order the bases.

Just looking at SUVs of a similar size to the Cayenne in late 2011 through early 2012 none (didn't look at the Mercs though) had HID as standard and a few of the Asian cars (which I would expect to have all the gizmos) didn't even offer an option (I think GM below Caddy didn't offer them either if I remember correctly).

Glad things are changing if your list is right. HIDs are a must have for me as it's literally a night/day thing.

+1

Agree completely. While PCM isn't the worst of its ilk, there simply is no need for completely different systems doing the same thing at the OS level.

Bi-Xenon™ headlights with dynamic headlight leveling, headlight cleaning system and integrated 4-point LED daytime running lights
