Default Urgent help needed..pleaseeee

Hi
Ok so its a bit silly...I lost my only key to my Cayenne 3.2L V6 2006, fell from my pocket....havent been able to find it in 3 days. I do have a skeleton key which opens up the door.
Called the porsche dealership here in India and they said they will have to order a lockset along with a new key and code the new key in. The lockset consists of the door lock and ignition lock and is priced at $2000.
Now I have come across this on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2006-Porsche...ccc524&vxp=mtr

Will this just be plug and play....that is i replace the ECU and the ignition lock. Will the remote unlock the door also?

does not sound right.
had a merc with a similar issue.
i presume with the VIN number and proof of ownership , the dealership will be able to get a key for you from Porsche Germany and then reprogram the car ECU.
might be worth ringing a non India based dealership.

In the USA you only have to pay for a key and reprogramming. Usually $3-400.

You should only have to pay for a key and the programming of the key by your dealer. With your VIN, the dealer can order your key. They usually ask for proof of ownership.

I agree, the vehicle registration was required w/ a valid ID. P dealer should be able to get you a key.

If the local P dealer is f*king aruond with you, then call sunset imports porsche service dept, talk to Luke, he will take care of you. Of course, the proof of ownership still requires via fax or scan.

Good luck!!

Ok guys they will not let me buy the key and programme it....I mean if I get the key they will not programme it for me.....I will have to buy the key from them......so I have no option.
So the only option is this ebay listing I found....so wondering if this would work

Ok so if I call Luke will he be able to order a programmed key for me? Cos my dealer said the key would come from Germany and then they would have to get the car in and programme it....they also said that since I have just one key (I've already lost the first one) it's Porsche policy to change the door lock and ignition lock also

Sounds to me like your dealer must have a monopoly on key programming within a 1,000 mile radius. Doesn't India work on a bribe system? Slip him a couple hundred bucks on the side maybe?

Lol it does work but I guess the Germans have that figured out......and there are only 7 dealerships all over India....
Which brings me back to the original question...the Link I have posted...will that option work?

Ask dealer if they accept to cut and program you new FOB if you buy externally the dealer.
Then go to ebay and buy a new FOB, make sure is for your 955.
Then bring your car to dealership, they should be able to work it out simply by referencing your VIN # and should charge you "cut "and time of work of programming you FOB.

If they don't agree, obviously you are dealing withs stealership.

Or bring a used FOB and a couple of beers and see what can u negotiate over the counter...

Good luck !!!

But $2000 is hurting too plus the fear that the car can be stolen.

ZERO dealers in the US would be doing this to you. That dealer is bending you over and singing a song. People lose keys all the time. You really think its normal to be charged $2000? Its not. Try calling other dealers in India and pretend you are local. See what they tell you. I just cant believe this is standard practice in India. Its robbery.

So the thing is even if another dealer offers a better price the car would still have to go in....and they are hourssss away some a few days drive away...,so right now this ebay option seems the only hope but am just confused whether the locking unlocking with remote will work or not
