Fortunately, for the cost savings on my 04 Turbo...... I also bought a Eurovan Camper so that I can sleep off the margaritas

I sold my 2005 CTT with 122,000 miles because I wanted a newer car. In the 3 years I had the 955 it was very reliable with the only real money being spent on rubber mounts and rubber bushings. It still has the original coolant pipes, cardan shaft and transmission valve body.

I was in the market for a 2009/10 957 or a 2011 958. I could have bought a top price, low mileage 2006 CTTS with almost identical performance for about 25% less than I paid for the 09 CTT or a top price 06 CTT for 35% less; but as i said I wanted a newer car. Prices here are similar for 2009 and 2010 CTTs and I simply bought the best one I could find and that wasn't necessarily the most expensive.

957 CTTs are quicker and better handling than 955 CTTs and from 2009 onwards have better brakes and an improved PCM.
958 CTTs are better all round than 957 CTTs but at a 90% higher price for 1/2 years newer I think the 09 CTT is a bargain and I can carry on with Porsche extended warranty until 2019.

I agree that 955s are a bargain, but not everyone is in the market for a car which is more than 8 years old especially if it is their DD.

So basically the 955 has one $500 (permanent fix)issue the 957 doesn't. So explain how the reliability is really so different to justify the price delta?

I'm one of the past 955 owners which had to get an engine replacement among numerous other issues such as ECU replacements, PCM and other 955 more common issues. If you want $ delta, the new engine covers the majority if not all.

Beyond this, as I already alluded, my time allotted to address problems is worth more than the $ delta. The time could've been used making $ instead of spending $ on something I'd rather not do.

If my 955 was my 1st Porsche instead of my 12th, I would not have bought 13th and 14th. In some ways, the 957 reminds me of 74-77 911s. Anyway, I'm glad I stuck with the brand and model. The Cayennes are great driving SUVs.

Did you have a cayenne S with the failed engine?
