Default 2014 CD observations

Coming from a 2009 CTT.

1. There is no longer a sunglass holder above the shift **** :-(
2. The storage area between front seats is now a single, smaller unit :-(
3. With Burmester audio there is no storage aft of the left, rear tire. :-( Burmester :-))
4. No storage under rear seats. :-(
5. The rear camera is fine, why not a front camera for parking use??
6. The ash tray (smokers package) below the PCM has an insert that is removable. With it removed it is almost perfect for storing iPhone. Would need a simple rubber/plastic insert to protect the phone. There is a single metal button at the front that is the scratching concern. :-)
7. The power (as noted in previouse discussions) is great. I think it is more responsive at lower speeds than my CTT was. It does have an oily noise at lower speeds, but all in all I like the new CD :-))

Congrats! Do you think they have improved the rear camera? Most postings were not very favourable.

The camera is nowhere as good as the one that was on my Lexus GX470, but wayyyyy better than whatever silly thing they stuck into the 2009 BMW X5s..

I like the white gauges, but the OCD in me could not stand to look at all those warning light cutouts.

I could live with that I think, now his max speed warning sticker is another story...

Edit: I now realize looking again that the picture was taken while the vehicle was moving at a fair rate of speed. Even if it wasn't the driver the photographer would have been interfering with the driver. Not cool.

This is my first rear camera, but it is similar to Audi's and Jeep's. Hope I don't see what the Lexus looks like ! :-)

1. My 955 has a sunglasses holder near the sunroof controls.. is that what you meant?
2. Do you have the "gun drawer" under the passenger seat still?

How is the ride and driving dynamics compared to your 09?

There are a couple of small storage compartments under the forward lip of the front seats. I think some spare sunglasses will fit in there. At first I was perplexed why there was a latch there. I wish there was more spots to store a few things in the driver area. Even some door compartment with a flip cover like there use to be in the 911s would be nice.

e_c, The passenger seat now has a shallow (2 inch), fold down container at the front of the seat. Not sure what one would put in it. And the missing sunglass holder would be at the sunroof control area. It now has a lighted "U" that takes up a lot of space.

Driving the rig is quite similar to the CTT.

If you have the fire extinguisher you don't get the pocket (which seems like a stupid place to put the extinguisher since the driver isn't going to be able to get to it easily).

In the driver pocket I keep my trailer hitch locking pin and an emergency knife (the kind for cutting seat belts and breaking windows). Still a bit of room left over and the stuff doesn't even rattle.

i store a flashlight, matches, and a knife under the seats.

the camera has the resolution of a Polaroid circa 1980!

I have about 2weeks of seat time in the CD. very nice. Great low end grunt and soft ride. Still prefer the V8. I'll pay for the dam gas.

Does the 2014 finally have LEDs on the rear license plate?
