That d!ck still has me on ignore.

I just dress up and talk to myself in the mirror. I'm still pissed that I was forced by myself to buy a P!g, and I will never let me forget it. Now I won't even sleep with myself.

But just think of all the more gender specific clothing wearers you have met, this would not have been possible had you not indulged yourself

Wow, guys, this turned into The Marriage Thread!

I sure have heard of women who blame their husbands and make this or that demand on them or that you cannot win an argument, but we aren't like that. If I have a rational argument, I 'win' but I don't view it as winning in the sense of a competition but we collaborate on finding the better path.

Here, while I aesthetically greatly prefer to own a P over a V, if the V is the same and the interior is the one my wife prefers, then I have no issues going V. My reason for posting is that I didn't think that Porsche would take a V car, leave it essentially unchanged, slap a gold shield on it and call it a P-car.

It seems I had it wrong and that's what Porsche did here.

As to driving both - sure - we do plan on that, but I wanted some added info (if there is any possible to add) as 'look fors' while doing a walk around and the test drive.

No I think what your looking at is specs, when the only real test is to drive both and make your own decision (or her decision whichever is the safest)

funny thread.
make sure she takes an apples to apples test drive. IMO i would drive a toureg w/ sports suspension vs the cayenne.

My wife now drives, among other things, a 993. Specs are important to her as they are to me. So is it true that the spec on the V is the same as the P other than minor tweaks such as larger brakes and interior details? If so, that's good data to know when comparing because the costs seem to be quite different in the CPO.

Yeah, when I did the OP, I never anticipated anything close to this thread's theme.

Haven't we already gone over the numbers of PAG vs VAG (although now what's the difference) content in a P!g before?

Divot is correct.
Whatever she wants, that's it.

Agrah wargah. My wife sent me here to gain info to assist in her decision. This is not wife vs d'dad but wife wanting to know if the premium for the P is more than just badge engineering.

I am not trying to talk her into anything. She's perfectly capable of deciding what her ride should be and I have no dog in that fight. I'd be ok with anything she chooses.

The porsche has a nicer interior, especially with the full leather option. You have more options to choose from to individualize the Porsche than the VW. Looks are subjective, but the P looks much nicer than the V.
I can't speak to suspension tuning in an apples to apples comparison, since my preference would be to only look at the sportiest of the available models. Someone who has driven the V6 versions of both, or diesel versions of both would need to chime in.

Before my wife purchased her Lexus, we looked at both the new Cayenne and the Touareg. For her, she preferred the VW because of cost. While they may share parts, I felt that they were different enough that I didn't feel the Porsche was just a glitzed up VW.

For comparison, we both felt that the Escalade was nothing more than a Tahoe with somewhat nicer trim. I would call what GM does "badge engineering", while VAG is more platform sharing.

No, the P badge is not worth the premium IMHO.
The service department at a Porsche dealer might be better than a VW dealer.

Almost zero chance of that. As a motorcycle rider, I have a grudge against the oil burners.

Now despite my previous post, if my wife did decide to go diesel, I'd have an issue with it. I detest them.

I agree that GM is the home of badge engineering.

I never have seen them side by side, but preferred the look of the P over the V, but also wondered if my enormous bias to the P marque caused me to think it looked better when it looks the same.

Still, the gist I get is that the P is a glitzed up V somewhat analogous to the Camry / Lexus 350. There clearly is value but I'm not sure if the value is worth it to us and if my wife persists in preferring the dash of the V, that's the way we'll go unless there is some deal breaker discovered along the way.

I will explore the all leather P option and the sport suspension in the V thanks to this thread. I learned a good deal there and also learned about others' married lives.

If off warranty, we tend toward indie specialist shops and if on warranty, we are married to the dealer. AFAIK, the VW dealers here are good.
