Default Cayenne aftermarket Unit for a 2008 with Bose

I just bought a used Cayenne and looking to replace the head unit. Has anyone had any experience using this unit from China(in pic)? If so, I would like to know how the Bose bypass(in pic) works which comes with the unit. This unit sales for around $800 on eBay.

I also would like to know any suggestions of alternatives around the same price range and If there are any good DIY links for removing the amp, etc...

I had a Mercedes C-class in which I bought & self-installed a unit from China similar to this one and had no problems, just curious about the Cayenne.

I haven't seen anything about this, and it has been discussed, but no one has made the jump.

Let us know how it works out eh?

It looks as though they cloned the main harness connector (made by Amp IIRC) for the Bose amplifier?
If so, then that cable runs from the back of the Chinese head unit to the rear cargo compartment and plugs into the speaker harness connector (I am assuming the Bose amp is removed at that time).
Without getting a shovel and heading to the cemetery to ask Larry, at first glance it should work.

Just out of morbid curiosity (like slowing down to stare at an accident), are you replacing a CDR23 or PCM in your P!g ?

And since its your first post, welcome to the P!g Pen, blah, blah, blah ....

Does it use a commonly supported GPS processor that has reasonably priced North America upgrades?

Be careful, some of these Chinese units are known to have horrendous response times and are just slow all together. Not sure on this particular unit, as it costs a but more than typical Chinese units. Personally, I wouldn't risk it.

Acutally I don't think so. A friend of mine has installed one made in China with high quality and he said that it works very well with quick response. And I do believe most of the products in China can meet the needs of customers if they are properly used and handled.

Glad your friend had good success. I have read several reviews regarding cheaper units, as I stated, while shopping for my for 4runner. These units are in the 300 dollar range and do not get good reviews. I would stick with name brand, which is probably made in China anyhow, so China wins regardless

Hi Gabe, ive just switched out my PCM 3.0 with bose with a Kenwood DNN990 head unit. Streets ahead of what the PCM was. Decided to change the amp as well (jl audio) but kept the bose speakers and sub intact.

OVerall it has made a remarkable difference.

Cool, around how much did that cost and is it better to replace the Bose when going for an aftermarket unit?
