That's terrible. How bad is the hit?

Luckily, no one was hurt. The damages sustained were to the rear bumper, the hitch and the exhaust pipes on the passenger side. Here's a pic of the damage:

*Sorry, still trying to figure out how to post pics.*

The funny thing was the person who struck me told me that she was really scared because she just hit a Porsche driver. She said she was relieve to find out that I was nice about the whole thing. Makes me pause to consider the general perception of the typical Porsche owner!

Ouch. Did it impact the liftgate too?

Take photos of the damage, if it gets flagged by Carfax and Autocheck you'll want to prove it wasn't a major structural damage event.

Curious, with something like this are you out (of pocket) your deductible or does the other party's ins. cover that too? (I haven't had an accident in ~25 yrs. so I have no clue)

As far as I know your deductible is for a claim filed with your own insurance. So this person that hit the cayenne is the one paying a deductible and filing a claim with their insurance.

25years@$1200/year = better file a claim soon and get your money back!

Very sorry for your car but glad everyone was ok. BTW, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you have to be a paying member to post pictures.

Thanks the info on posting pics.

@endless_corners: It's been 10 years for me. For insurance claims, there are two routes to take. You can file thru the other person's insurance or thru your own. If I file thru my insurance then I pay the deductible upfront. My insurance goes after the other party and once they recoup the cost I get reimbursed.

I don't know the rules for posting pics but you should still be able to post them on a site like Tinypic or Flicker (?) and post the link here. Several forums I'm on don't allow direct loading of pics to their forums, Tinypic (or other service) is the only way to post pics.

Sorry to hear about your accident, and glad no one was injured. Present a claim against the other party and make sure you pick a reputable shop for the repairs. As long as everything is properly replaced, you should be fine. Good luck.

I should have said I think you have to be a paying member to post pics directly to the RL site. Of course, you can post links to other sites....

Is that the Euro style, swinging out hitch?

No, just the factory hitch and, luckily, the rear hatch still works. Thanks for the sympathies everyone; hope none of you will EVER have to go through this experience. The Cayenne is now in the bodyshop and it happens to be one of Porsche's approved collision center so I guess it's in good hands for now.
