The anger is over and the sadness is sinking in...thus goes the grieving cycle.

Glad to hear no one injured. I was rear-ended in a RR a few years ago...there is a definite cycle to the process you will be going through but know in the end that all will be just fine. Best of luck.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Perhaps you can get an aftermarket exhaust under insurance. I had an accident about 6 months ago and had the body shop paint my "PORSCHE" in black and got new 21" Turbo wheels.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've emailed the other driver's insurance company about a diminished value. I'll see what happens with that. Will keep you all posted.

So I got an estimate from the shop...$6000 and should be ready by the middle of next week. Will post pics. They are replacing the bumper, the exhaust, a stabilizer bar bracket and repainting the entire rear hatch. On the latter, they will take the letters "Porsche" off. All parts are OEM.

As for the diminished value claim, I emailed the insurance company and they gave me an "automated" response that stated that emails will be answer in the order it is received; just like snail mail or faxes. What?! So, I guess they are stalling and I will need to call to get a more definitive answer to this matter.

My condolences on the rear-end. I would be really ticked. Maybe you can get the twin-pipe exhaust that dbtk hinted at above. That way, people would not wonder whether it is a Porsche, but whether it is a Cayenne S v Cayenne GTS v Cayenne Turbo! Are they taking the word "Cayenne" of the rear hatch too?

I only had "Porsche" on the back so that's what they are sticking back on. Getting an appraisal done on the car this Wednesday to assess for diminised value. The other driver's insurance company said I have a good case for diminished value...so things are looking up!

Thanks again to everyone on this board who has responded. You have no idea how helpful you've all been during this trying time...first world problems but they are still problems!

Good luck on the diminished value. You are the king if you get it. I've tried that in the past, and insurance companies look at you like a deer in the headlights when I've broached the subject, then say they guarantee the repairs for the life of the vehicle.

Diminished value is real; CarFax knows about it, and so does a potential buyer. In the future, I'm going to go for it, if I find myself in your situation. Best of Luck.

The Porsche should be ready by next week. I am have an appraiser look over the car for diminished value. Worst case, I can write it off for taxes next year.

Hi all,

Wanted to bring this thread to happy conclusion. So, the Cayenne got repaired and it looks fine. The only complaint I have is that the "PORSCHE" letter are not factory straight. I can live with that; although I know that I can easily call the shop to get it redone. Also, I got a check for the diminished value of the Cayenee! Got the check today for roughly $5700. This was was on top of them paying off my car rental and deductible. I guess I lucked out because the other person's insurance company was one of few companies that honor/acknowledged diminished value claims. All in all, I'm glad this three month ordeal is now behind me! The Cayenne currently has 8K miles and runs great! My next thing is to get the first oil change...thanks everyone for your comments and support. It truly helped.
