Default Perfromance Software Upgrade question

So my new Cayenne diesel arrives in a week, and an independent garage owner I know told me last week about the great performance software available for the diesel. Said it will really improve performance and mileage - all for $700! I mentioned this to my Porsche sales guy who agrees that these software programs generally really do improve performance, and in some cases, quite noticeably. At this point, I'm feeling good thinking that for an extra $700, I'm going to get a whole lot more vehicle than I thought. BUT (and its a big one), he also said it voids your waranty. Obviously not on if that's the case, but I have read these forums enough to know many members here have had these upgrades done. So how do you deal with the warranty issue?

Also, there are ecu upgrades but also tuner boxes. For a diesel you will see excellent gains with a tuner box which is removable. Perhaps try going to tdiclub forums and find out the best tuner boxes for that VAG engine. Then you can have your cake and eat it too.

this is what i was talking about... http://www.diesel-power.com/en/en/Co...type=pkwdiesel..

looks like about a 20% increase in power in both HP and torque... but you can unplug it before going to the dealer. I used to have a highly modded TDI jetta and a lot of people would run these boxes that had new cars with warranties.

Here is a link to MTM, a very reputable German performance company. http://www.mtm-online.de/en/Porsche/...ayenne2TDI1768 Yes, it will most likely void your warranty if the dealer ever finds out. Some companies have a way of flashing back the software with a loading tool that can carry multiple programs so you just save your stock software and reflash the ECU prior to heading to the dealer. Remember, the same basic Diesel has been in Audi/VW platforms for a few years as it is and Audi engine so the tuners have had some time to work on them and develop some good programs.
