The FX45 is about as "attractive" as the Cayenne. They both have the same amount of curb appeal. The Cayenne will attract the same or even a larger crowd.

I have yet to see a good looking SUV, ever.

FX45 better looking than the Cayenne? Not in my book, love your HUGE chrome grille though Besides that the FX has less interior space, nowhere near the off-road capabilities or on road speed. You are comparing a Nissan to a Porsche....Spare me.

You guys know you aren't going to be seeing a bunch of Cayennes on the track, why make such dumb comments? Of course your modified Boxster S will beat it up on a tight course, wow, you can beat a truck.

I am looking forward to it myself. Then I can pull my watercooled V8 Porsche to the track with another WC V8 Porsche

Hey look its another one of those ill-informed 928 owners Robert. First they don't understand that Boxsters are better track cars than 928's and now they don't understand that the FX45 has faster "on-road" speed and better handling than the Cayenne S for less $.

At least they are consistent.

I believe you are right, the Cayenne will be cutting across the infield to make up time on the track...

OOOOHHHHH! A flame war

You can say the FX is quicker 0-60 for now, NOBODY has actually tested a production version yet. I am sure C&D will put together the big sport SUV tests as soon as one is availible. Rest assured that the Cayenne will beat the FX.

I had a 944 Turbo before the 928. It cleaned up on those Boxsters , S or not. My 928 with appropriate mods will beat up on them as well. Have you run that Boxster against the likes of Mark Anderson, Don Hansen or Kim Crumb ? Any one of those guys in the big fat 28 will leave you for dead. But you just keep typing away, you seem pretty adept at convincing yourself of fallicies.

The $$$$ is the key, you bought a cheapo Jap rip off, congratulations. And next time you do Rubicon I'll be happy to meet you with one of my MB G-wagens and drag your Jeep across the real mens trails. I've done Moab Rim, Metal Masher, Steel Bender and Golden Spike in my totally stock truck. With the rear locker and air suspension I have no doubt the Cayenne could handle them as well. Maybe its just the driver

Maybe the driver is why I've left all 944's and 928's on the track for dead?

I love how 928 owners are so blind as to follow a specific brand of car no matter what the manufacturer turns out. The bean counters in Stuttgart must have you on their mailing list - look here comes a Porsche 'turd' you need one, and we'll sell it to you, just get in line!

What exactly is the FX45 a rip-off of? Define "cheap". I'm glad you own multiple MB G-wagens, sounds like you'll need the extra ones for parts.

ALL Ken? You are pretty full of yourself man. What kind of credibility do you think that statement gives you? Look up once... what color is the sky in your world?

Oh and BTW, never had a failure in a G. I do get a kick out of collecting various Jeep parts from the trails I run though.

Hope you get over yourself soon. It would be nice to see you actually contribute something, rather than just sling mud.

Ken,

Maybe you don't see the Cayenne getting the same looks as your FX45 because you don't own one. The FX45 does not have universal appeal. Some people like it, others hate it. It's almost the same with the Nissan Murano, it is not in a sense "conventional styling" so there will be a number of people that think the FX45 is ugly. As far as the interior, the interior on an 03 4Runner Limited is nicer than the FX series, its more in line with Lexus than Toyota.

Brent 89-GT -

I posed your statement to an off-road expert, someone who knows even more than I do about the subject, and here's what he had to say:

"I'm not sure of the specs of a MB G-wagen. I've driven all those trails except Steel Bender, plus many others in the Moab area, including Pritchett Canyon. I guess you could get a Boxster over all of them with a strap and a winch, but I'm not sure too many owners would want to put up with the body damage.

Bottom line is the Cayenne can't do those trails in stock form without significant body damage, if it can even return home at all. That guy doesn't have any idea what he is talking about!

The ugly square things are Galaendewagens, and unlike the Cayenne they have some legitimate off road capability. The extent of that I don't know, but if this guy did all those trails with a stock one (including stock tire
size) I'd be impressed. Ask for pics of his body damage!"

So I'm asking for the pics...

denhat,

I said early on in that other thread that the looks of any car are going to be subjective so we'd exclude those. As for the interior, I'm not sure what FX45 you sat in, but the interior in ours is nicer than the Cayenne's and certainly nicer than our neighbors 4Runner. Have you sat in these seats? Have you seen the real aluminum trim, none of that faux garbage...
We traded in a Lexus RX300 on the FX and the FX's interior is nicer than the RX300's. The car is also quieter.

Hey Ken,

Just so I'm clear. Are you calling 928's "turds".
You seem to be in the "look how many people look at my car" circle. I had a Boxster a few years ago,no one cared. I have a 1987 928 and I get the "looks" all the time, thumbs up,traffic light stops, highway window roll downs from 10 year olds to 80 year olds. Lighten up on the 928 and their owners.

First is the neighbors car an 03 Limited.?? The interior look is also going to be subjective. I also had an RX300 and the interior is much better on the 4Runner than the RX. The 4Runner Limited with the V8 and 5 speed is also more quite than the RX.
I'm just not impressed with the interior of the FX.

i have 944 T and 928 GTS's in my POC class,,,,,neither type of vehicle comes within 3 seconds of any of my track times on several tracks. I love the 928 but its weird that the lowely Boxster has more head and leg room than that big cruiser...944 T's are nice too but they arent a match for any Boxster

hey Ken, You know that the V8 in the Pepper is supposedly the future salvation of the 928 Klan. As for Mark, yeah I know mark, Been on the track many times with him and if my Boxster had has much HP his his shark has. Well, you can mess with mid engine design

Here is the link for the Pics. The black one is my '95 G320 and the silver one is a '00 G500. Both trucks are on 265/75-16 size tires. There are pics from Golden Spike and Steel Bender. The day we did Metal Masher is pretty crappy outside and the pics stink. I have taken the Moab Rim pics down but there are a couple on www.clubgwagen.com under trail reports. The only damage ever has been some minor scrapes on the bumpers, never had any sheet metal damage on any of the trucks I have guided through. click Gwagens in Moab
