Cayenne saga continues. . .
My two week old "S" is in the shop again. Numerous times the vehicle refuses to shift from second to third while in auto mode. This past weekend while continuing the sporadoic refusal to shift the top half of the display where the radio station/CD info is located was completely blank. After about 15 minutes of driving the system completly rebooted itself and the top half of display returned. Dealer searched vehicle for codes today and found an error related to the fuel system!!! The vehicle is now with the dealer for an extended tet drive while connected to remote diagnostic computers. I love the Cayenne design but am beginning to hate this particular vehicle. I will NEVER buy an early production run vehicle again (I should have learned from others experiences with the infamous BMW 7 series).

I feel the same as you do but have been patiently going through the process with the dealer. I am due to talk to the Porsche rep on April 18th. If I don't get satisfaction there then I will resort to the legal process. Right now I would gladly accept a new one (mine has 555 miles) but sadly if I have to sue Porsche then I will go for a refund and not exchange and buy from another manufacturer. Thanks for your words of encouragement . . . .

I called PCNA which is a complete waste of time . . .they simply document your complaint and thank you for your call. They ought to save the company money and just have an answering machine thay says "leave your complaint." Luis: already have an '01 polar silver 911 C4 coupe. . .but a convertible might be nice =)

Let me assure you calling PCNA is not a waste of time.
My most recent experience was to call, l had the call documented, and within two days someone got back to me with a satisfactory resolution.
Three weeks later, a secondary issue, which I had mentioned (at the same time) but had decided to pass on, was also resolved to my satisfaction.
The first issue related to Roadside assistance and a blown tire at 600 miles, and the second issue related to the paperweight for a 2002 car.
Their record keeping is so good that they even had a record of my complaint about the lack of hollow spoke wheels on my 2001 TT (June 200).
Hang in there, they are reasonable but give them some time to investigate. If the problem is legitimate they will fix it, they'll even give you the benefit of the doubt.

Sportscarfanatic - Is there anyone at PCNA that will listen to the lack of spares, lack of CD Changers, Lack of Tires & Wheels?
The day after I picked my S up from the dealership the Service Manager called me a told me that they had a problem with the high beam relay on another car and just to be safe asked me to bring mine in for a replacement. They told me what to look for if the problem showed up and what to do. I am dismayed at the problem that STIRS is going through and wish the best possible outcome for resolution!
PS: Can someone post the number for PCNA here?

Got the Cayenne back yesterday after the dealer having for two days and noting "cannot duplicate customer concern." Spoke to Porsche technical rep. yesterday who told me the computer rebooting itself was likely a software issue that will be addressed in the "future" and that it is my responsibility to help Porsche resolve the transmission issue. He went on to explain in techincal terms the complicity of the tranny and software and that I must help them figure out the issue. He also wants to do statistical research to find out what percentage of vehicles may be affected before Porsche does anything. When I asked him how long it would be before I had a reliable and problem free vehicle to drive he responded that there is no time line and he needs time to investigate. This morning, after locking in second on my way to the office, the vehcile will be in for the third time. To date no reprogramming has been done, no parts replaced and no direction to the dealer from Porsche other than perhaps encouragement to deceive the customer. The vehicle has three error codes, two related to fans and one to the evap system. Explanation on those - NADA - vehicle opertaing to manufacturers specification. Translation - Porsche and dealer have no clue whats wrong or how to begin to fix it. If you haven't yet spent your hard earned cash on one of these - WAIT WAIT WAIT until Porsche figures out what the hell they are doing !!!! <img border="0" alt="[soapbox]" title="" src="graemlins/soapbox.gif" />

Have the mechanics at your dealership been to school on the Cayenne yet? I ask because the ones at mine have yet to go.
