hahahaha, Ken you crack me up. You are yanking chains on this board big time.

A friend has the fx, and I have to say it is a pretty cool looking car, almost as nice as my Ranger Rover

Ken:

I owned a Infiniti G35 coupe for a brief while before I sold it to a friend and bought a 911 C4. While the car was great the service at our local dealership was horrible. If the local dealer sucks I will not even consider the brand as you are stuck if there are problems. Thank God my local Porsche dealer is cooperative.

Harold:

I am beginning to wonder if it is stupidity rather than patience. Regardless, the saga is about to end. My dealer has agreed to trade my LEMON '03 for an '04. The MSRP on th '04 is $1,300 less and I have to put in $2,000 cash so my total loss is around $3,300. I could have gone through the lemon law process and lost nothing but the frustration and BS just isn't worth it. Porsche NA has been totally unresponsive to both myself and the dealer and I have lost all respect for Porsche as a company. The Cayenne will be my last Porsche and I will keep my 2001 C4 and maintain indefinitely instead of looking to upgrade it. A word to the wise to any Porcshe buyers . . .make sure your dealer is a good one and will stand behind you because Porsche corporate could care less about its customers !!

Sounds like it is time to get the FX45 and enjoy the reliability of the FX platform. We've owned a Q45 and a G20, and the service at our local Infiniti dealership was also the pits - probably the worst I've ever seen for any make of car.

Having said that, the Infinitis were incredibly reliable most of the time, although my Q45 transmission died at 103,000 miles.

I think it's hit-or-miss with a lot of car makes and dealers, depending on where you live. The obvious exception is probably Lexus - which seems perfect just about anywhere. Too bad, their cars are so boring.

In Florida, the Lemon Law would kick in about now. Make them eat the freakin' car.

My new Cayenne is finally in and I will pick it up Monday. . and for the small price of $3,300 I can rid of the lemon. I met with the Porsche regional rep on Friday which was a complete waste of time. He was only concerned with gathering data from the vehcile presumably hoping that it will not become a widespread problem. He cared little about the issues I have had with the vehicle, never once apologized and only said "I hear the dealer is putting you in a new vehicle" to which I replied "Yes and I am having to pay $3,300 to make it happen." His response was a dumbass smile (I am proud of myself in restraining from not punching him in the face). I love Porsche vehicles and sincerely hope that the new President of PCNA fires some of these morons and reducates what staff he decides to keep on the importance of customers and their satisfaction . . . .

Stirs,

Can you please e-mail me - in private - that Porsche Reps name? I tried to contact you in an e-mail, but it bounced. Anyway - please reply to johnd@rennlist.com In short - your interaction with that Porsche Rep is not "right", certainly as a customer - and I am somewhat confident that it will be addressed. As well - you should call - immediately - 1-800-PORSCHE and relate this issue, if you have not done so already.

My Thanks.

Stirs,

When you get rid of the lemon, would you post the VIN? Might be fun to track in the future...

Thanks

It 's not right that you should have to pay $3300.

I suggest you call PCNA again on Monday morning. Let the new one sit a few days and see if they will come to your rescue. I think if you hang tough they will take care of you. But it should be automatic and without attittude

I'm further concerned that Porsche and the dealer will avoid having this car tagged as a lemon, and it will be sold on to some unsuspecting customer. If they are a Rennlist member then we all go through this "pain" again.

FWIW I saw a new Cayenne (wrappings still on it) at the dealership yesterday and a note on the windshield. "Do not drive, transmission inoperable".

I think Porsche should hear from all the users on this board.

Maybe we can organise something like a mass calling campaign, if you provide the VIN # we can call to colplain about it.

Any thoughts. Let's exert our influence in a productive and meaningful way.

Any ideas if its the transmission or the E-gas system?

Maybe the japanese tranny is not able to communicate with the german engine?

Have had my replacement Cayenne for two days now and so far so good. It's nice to finally drive a vehicle that you can mechanically depend upon. I would like to personally thank everyone who voiced support in this posting. While I may be out a few thousand dollars, Porsche stands to lose far more as I don't hesitate to voice my fondness of the Cayenne platform but dislike of Porsche NA corporate employees and their arrogance.

I'll never buy an SUV. I think a station wagon is the best option for me.
