Hey Stirs!
Keep a list of what is going on and when. In Illinois they have only 4 times to fix it under our lemon law.
I truly pray I don't have these kind of problems. I am not anywhere close to my dealer.

Wow, the first Cayenne lemon and it has only been on the market for a couple of weeks. Imagine without Gore inventing the internet how little of this information would get out. Also makes you wonder if Stirs will get a cease and desist letter from pcna before all this is done.

The factory, the car, the relationship with VW, they are all new.
This car is also new to the dealers, and we will have some problems.
But overall I'm very happy with the vehicle.

What they ought to do is preserve a customer relationship and replace a LEMON vehicle, but they have no interest in doing so. They view us Cayenne owners as lab rats testing and working out the bugs with the "future" of the company. I just hope when they are bought out that the engineers who design Porsche sports cars are retained and they fire the entire North American staff who are a disgrace to the brand . . .

John, have you submitted the lemon law paperwork? It's pretty straightforward. The laws vary from state to state, but in Florida, a vehicle that had been in for the same issue three or more times was a candidate.
We had an issue with our mini-van (a Honda Odyssey with excessive wind noise at speeds > 60mph). After three attempts, it was still unresolved. We submitted the lemon law paperwork and a Honda rep contacted us within a day or two of receiving it. They sent down a rep and had the issue resolved within a week. Sometimes, you just have to let them know you're serious.

re: Lemon law -- make SURE you get paperwork stating they looked at/attempted to fix the problem each time it's at the dealership. One way dealerships avoid the lemon law is by handing your car back without any proof they looked at or tried to repair it!

What a pitiful situation. I can't believe that Porsche can be so arrogant. As others have suggested, I'd throw the lemon law book at them.
By buying the 2003 Range Rover, we were also guinea pigs, but it has worked out fine so far. However, even when buying a second year production E46 M3, I got one of the self-destructing engines.
Cars are getting too complex for their own good - and apparently the dealers', as well. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

In a year I'm sure there will be 50-100 TSBs for various gremlins that are just part of the first year production of any all new vehicle platform . These TSBs will arise from the gradual collaberation between owners/flustered techs /scrambling engineers back in Germany. Look at it as the Cayenne development final "field testing " stage.

Can we please ascertain here why PCNA is not at your doorstep with a box of flowers and a new key to a loaner Cayenne while they figure out what is wrong iwth your transmission or just give you a new one? What - 70k? Porsches first TOTALLY NEW VEHICLE since the 928?
You'd think they would be licking your boots.
Get some tort involved. Get Mr. "Well Connected PCNA customer" to make some calls.
At least the trans is not made by a normal Porsche parts source - right?
I'd love to have some PCNA rep to ask and discuss issues on my S4 as if it were new.
