my cayenne fling has officially come to its end.
4 months ago I found myself intoxicated by its beauty, speed, and refinement. After the first test drive I was hooked, and who wouldn't be? However it felt like I was driving a car that was rapidly turning into a potential money pit. With what felt like a different error every week I found myself enjoying the car less, and wondering what was next to break more. So this evening I officially traded my 04 CT on a 2011 4Runner. I just couldn't mentally commit to worrying about a "what's next" situation. With a baby on the way I should have never bought an out of warranty cayenne, I can afford to keep fixing it for only so long. I jumped the gun on my first "exotic". I will have another one, sooner rather than later-but it will have a warranty. So from one cliff diver to a great forum thanks for all the advice and knowledge.

Thats why i have a second cheaper unreliable german vehicle for backup.. my glorious ML430. Between the two i should be on the road all the time (god willing). Hopefully once things settle down with junior you can up the game again. Although a 4runner is not so bad is it? We got our rides at around the same time... but i love my out of warranty cayenne. Even though I have to do coolant pipes and a valve body.

Thanks for the encouragement fellas. The 4runner is very functional, but I will sorely miss the responsive handling of the cayenne. Also the 4runner is technically new, it was a leftover 2011 I got a good deal on. All in all it really is a bittersweet ending.

Sorry to see you (temporarily) end your fling with the Cayenne.
As one who has enjoyed the experience with nary a problem, I am sure you will come back for an (in warranty) repeat!
The things we must do for our families and love!
See you back soon!

The Cayenne is much like an expensive prostitute. It will give you a lot of pleasure but it will also cost you. The Japanese SUV can be compared to your first date. Not much to look at but reliable in the end.
Sorry to see you go. Good luck with the 4-runner.

2nd, what is it with the Toyotas? I'm seeing dealers advertising brand new '11 Sequoias but you're saying they also have 4 Runners? They couldn't keep those things on the lot 2 yrs. ago (I looked at them briefly). Wow!

Bill, they had 1 2011, and it was the only 4runner they had on the lot..no 2012's. If it didn't have the premium package (leather) i wouldn't have pulled the trigger.
The drive in to work today wasn't bad..but I didn't have a grin on my face like I would with the Cayenne. In the end I know it was the right move. For the last decade I have owned nothing but Honda and Nissan products, this is my first Toyota...and honestly I never had to replace a single part due to failure in any Japanese branded car I have owned.
On a site note if anyone needs a new cabin air filter or wants winter rims (genuine porsche 20" sport designs with some curbage/no tires) I will cut you a GREAT deal.
