[QUOTE=Irisheyes;11497742]Ok, so I have found a dealer more than willing to activate the video input on my PCM 2.1 for the backup cam I installed via fakra cable to the video plug on the back of the PCM. They said it would be 1/2 hour labor charge. Only problem is, they said they need to know what channel to activate? They can do it real quick but they need to know what channel. I have no clue what that means so if anybody does that has gotten this activated, please let me know so I can finally get this aftermarket backup cam thing working. Thanks![/QUOTE

How much are they going to charge you? I am also curious about the channel?

No clue on the channel, I thought it was labeled as backup camera, camera or reverse camera on the PIWIS.

Chris, I'm sure you are correct on the labeling but at this point I'm really tired of dealing with dealers that have no clue what I'm talking about. Most don't even seem to care to at least try to figure it out. The last one I talked to was willing to try but now that Seafeye mentioned that Dynavin unit I'm going to go that route and be done with it. It looks like an excellent option to replace the PCM 2.1, something I've been looking for. It still blows my mind how absolutely horrid the PCM 2.1 is! It's my wife's car and she won't even attempt to use the darn thing, it's so confusing.

I'm curious where to find a good deal for a dynavin N6 unit. Does your dynavin display the porsche logo during start up?

I ordered mine from here: http://www.jandtdistributing.com/

They are an US distributor for Dynavin.

For the startup logo you can choose whatever you want. You can load any picture onto the system and then set it as your startup logo. I chose the porsche logo as the startup logo because I like the OEM look..

I've read this whole thread and still have 1 question I want to verify.
I've got an 04 CS without camera with PCM 2.1 (I think). If I got a PIWIS cable, I can use it to activate the reverse camera function? Is this correct?

Well, if you have a PIWIS cable, plus a Bosch KTS 520/550 and a computer running the PIWIS software, then you can activate it!

What about the cheap Chinese PIWIS cables? Can they activate it?

Those are usually durametric 1st generation knockoffs. Real PIWIS need a VCI hardware interface like the Bosch 520/550 units.

But can the cheap Chinese knockoffs activate the reverse camera?

Doubt it. From what I've seen in the ads, those use v5 or earlier of the Durametric software. Since Durametric, even at v6, can't activate the video port in the PCM or do any of the other coding functions, I'd be willing to bet it would not work. Somebody on here might have spent the $30 for one of those cables and might know exactly what it can do... poll the forum audience to see!

But if you have a 2004 it is most likely PCM2.01, not PCM2.1 Does yours uses individual CD's to cover small regions or 1 DVD to cover the whole Continent. If the CD's then it is PCM2.0, PCM2.1 is DVD based.

This is a good question. I didn't get a navigation disc with my car, but got a copy from a member on here. I'm in Australia and the navigation disc is on a CD. However the unit is a DVD unit with a 6 disc changer in the boot. I'll find out if it's PCM 2.0 or 2.1.

IF I have the PCM 2.0, can it be programmed to have a reverse camera?
