I have a couple of those pigtail cables that I didnt end up using in my install (wrong gender). You are welcome to them just pay the shipping and Ill get them out. PM me.
awesome! care to clarify what pigtail cables are? does it come with the camera I bought?? how do i know they'll fit for me?
You only need to get the PCM coded for the AV input to work. I just went through this on my '06 Turbo S when the OEM camera failed and Porsche wanted over $1500 for a new camera/telescoping motor setup (my motor still worked fine). The control box on OEM equipped Cayennes only controls the motor and supplies the voltage (6.5V) for the camera. The camera output signal goes through a FAKRA connector all the way to the front and connects into the back of the PCM. I hooked up a 9V batter to an Ebay camera and plugged it in directly to my PCM through a RCA video to Fakra adapter and the camera worked as good or better than OEM. I just adapted the mounts for the OEM telescoping setup, figured I might as well use it since it was there and worked. Many of the aftermarket kits just replace one of the license plate lights with a angled camera. You will need your PCM coded for the backup camera if it didn't have it before. My OEM PCM failed and I bought a newer (2007 PCM2.1) from Ebay and plugged it in and got my dash compass & Satellite radio back but not the A/V. I took it to the dealer and it took 15 minutes or less for them to recode the PCM.
Hi Hahnmgh63, I have a similar issue with my 06 Cayenne Turbo but my camera works on the screen but the telescoping door will not open. This started failing slowly over time and now will not open at all. Do you recall if this can be purchased separately? Thanks, J
Porsche only sells the telescoping mechanism/motor & camera as a complete package. If you are mechanically inclined you can carefully take the telescoping mechanism apart and clean out the old grease/dirt/corrosion and re-grease the little jackscrews and see if that fixes it.
Thank you Hahnmgh63. My local Euro car mechanic called me this morning. They made another attempt at totally dissembling and cleaning the telescoping motor. It works again now. I suspect this will happen again in the future since I live at the beach where the salty air is more than likely the culprit.
the indy activated the reverse camera with no issue,
only thing is when I put the car to reverse then into drive the back up screen still appears for a little while before the PCM displays the main screen
how quick should the back up camera screen appear after going into reverse?
how quick should the back up screen go back to main screen after back to drive ?
Anyone have a link to a current camera on ebay that works with 6.5v?
Most say 12v +/- 10%
i just bought this one, waiting for it to be shipped. i believe the mounting holes need to be enlarged a bit to fit the cayenne as most have previously discussed.
