Default 19" Tire choices?

'06 S/Ti-Edition

Has anyone downsized from 275/45-19 to the optional size 255/50-19?

Aside from an improvement in ride quality - there are some much less expensive tire options available in the 50 series tires.

If you have - what were your results?

Cheap in NJ (SWMBO goes ballastic when tires cost > $1,000 - that seems to be the cutoff point.. can't do that in the 45 series..)

I see what you mean. I am finding better prices on my 20" wheel available than on 19", at least on Tire rack.

I'd like to go the other way. The Continental CrossContact LX20 gets great test results from Tire Rack - and they tested it on a Cayenne V6... It's around $200/tire in 255/50-ZR19. The Continental Extreme Contact DWS is around $230/each. That's compared to over $300 (sometimes well over) for the 19" sizes (with the exception of the DWS in 19" - it's $262/each..)

Question - rim width for the two tone rims that came with the Ti edition? Anyone know?

I have the Continental DWS in the stock 19 inch size, got them from Tirerack. I am very happy with them in terms of ride and I have not yet had them out in any severe conditions; but they do handle well in dry and moderate rain conditions.
