Default Switching from rock'n'roll to classical music

So I am tooling down the road three days ago listening to my favorite local top40 radio station when all of a sudden the channel switches to a classical music station. I thought it was odd, but didn't think too much of it (since I own a Cayenne afterall ;-), so just switched it back and kept going. The fault did not recur, so I chalked it up to chance and possibly a loose connection somewhere.

Now today, while listening to a classic rock station, I hit a moderate bump in the road, and it happened again--classical music on the radio. I again switched it back, but this is now obviously not an isolated occurrence.

While I occasionally like and listen to classical music, I do not appreciate my car picking my music for me. Heeding advice here on this forum, and my own good sense, I recently purchased this 2006 CTT to avoid "beta-test" issues with the 03-05 955's.

Has anyone ever heard of this (pun intended)? Production date is 11/05 and I have PCM.

TIA

No, but his father-in-law did pass away during the week it took us to complete the transaction...is it really possible that Papa thinks he still owns the truck?

x2 what mudman says. I don't know of anywhere in the USA that does use this system, but in europe and parts of africa, a station can send a sub channel signal that can tell the radio to switch to that station, then they broadcast the news, then it will switch back to your previous station.

The signal is part of the existing RDS system, a similar US Spec RDS station has a corrupt stream or signal once in a while that the radio reads as a TA signal within the American RDS stream.

This happens to me once in a while when listening to CDs or XM radio in my car and others I have had in the past.

A donation to a dog rescue charity may help solve the problem.

Nice thought, but I think this "feature" shall remain as itis for now.

Be grateful you haven't been subject to "doors locked, volume goes to 11 and stays there" .... Or "a certain CD will trigger the windshield wipers in sync with the music"

There are a number of them in central NJ.. and all I ever get is a brief radio traffic report. Maybe they forgot to shut it off..

If the traffic suggestion doesn't work you might try the 1, 4, 8 system reset.

Just had to do this on mine, it's been acting very strange for a couple of weeks now. Did the reset today, I'll see if that fixes it. (I hope)

I am still learning this PCM system...the base CD player was much simpler in my 05 V6! I can't imagine why the previous owner would enable RDS, but will check on that for sure. My experience with RDS in the EU is that it switches back to "your scheduled program" once it is done reporting. This does not switch back (buth then maybe I just did not wait long enough).

Lewis--I suspected you may be behind this...serves me right for asking the question
Andy E.--Let's hope it does not come to that
