Contacted a guy this week about a Turbo S and asked if he had updated the pipes. His reply was that according to the dealer, the Turbo S has different coolant pipes and problems are very uncommon.

This is news to me, any truth to this?

Nope, their the standard ones on the Turbo. Did mine a couple of years ago.

Not yet. Still uses plastic pipes, but a different design. Haven't seen any failure reports.

Why did Porsche field an aluminum repair kit, yet went back to the plastic pipes for production?

How long did it take (time and/or cycles) for the original plastic coolant pipes to fail?

Making the plastic thicker merely extends the predicted time to failure beyond the expected useful life of the P!gs.
