Actually, not just thicker but also a different blend of polyamide glass-filled nylons that can react differently to vast temperature swings. As Deilenberger pointed out, there are still no documented failures of the newer coolant tube design as we're now pushing on 4-1/2 years of field testing (not including the time elapsed during the harsh factory tests of the newer prototype tubes).
