Default 2006 Cayenne Turbo

Hey guys. New to the board but was hoping to get your wise advise. I have been trying to decide between a cayenne, X5, range rover or LR3. I have done a TON of research and due to all the problems I have read about Land Rover I have pretty much eliminated the lr3 and range. Today I test drove a 2006 Cayenne Turbo with 58k miles on it and it was AWESOME! I am really thinking about pulling the trigger. I checked and asked about the coolant pipes, coils and cardan shaft. All have been replaced minus the shaft which he said was more of a problem on 2004s. Dealer is asking $32k for it. So my question for you guys is do you think that's a good deal? What are some other questions I should ask?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sounds like a good deal. Any warranty included? And did you see documentation that the coolant pipes were fixed, or did they just "tell" you that? If it's a Porsche dealer they should be able to pull a copy of the repair order for you.

Default Thanks.

Thanks for the response. The place is a small high end used car place. I wish I could afford to purchase from a Porsche dealer. The owner told me that they had 3 come through and and couldn't remember if they had been done of this one for sure because he said they replaced te pipes on 2 of the 3. He told me he would stick a camera down in the engine to make sure. I am going to take it to my mechanic to double check either way.

And it isn't that huge of a cost but the Cardan shaft isn't just a problem with the 2004's but a problem with all of them. At least 2003~2008 so don't let them feed you a line. And "I think it was done, we did 2 out of 3" is not an answer, but BullSh$#(

make sure you know how much brake pad is left and the rotor thickness. $2k for brakes so you want to know when they will need replaced. Get a proper PPI and a warranty.

Price is good but heed the other advice listed above. There is a coolant pipe thread that shows what replaced ones look like and you can check that yourself. Get the PPI at a P-car dealer if you can and get a warranty history while you're there.

I have a really honest and good mechanic that I plan to do a PPI on it including the breaks. Is $2k and average cost for a break job? The dealer told me the rotors run between $120-$170 a piece for the front and pads are around $220. So how does it get up so high?

TIA

Dealer prices: Fronts are usually $1000-1200; Rears $900-1000 from my last experiences. An indy can do it for in the $700 range.

When I changed the fronts on my S back in 2007, rotors were $112 each from Sunset Porsche and the pads were $140. There was also some misc caliper hardware (wear sensors, pad springs, bolts). Total parts was $421, plus shipping. List price on the parts was $587.

I did the rears a year later and bought the parts from Suncoast that time. Rotors $87 ea, set of pads $110. Total (with the misc caliper hardware) was $332 plus shipping. List price on the parts was $497.

Prices definitely go up when you go up in models. The Sonnen price on Cayenne S frt. rotors is $288 (Pair), Turbo frt. rotors at $306 (pair) Turbo S frt. rotors at $1313 (Pair) which are all cheaper than Sunset's prices. Going to the Turbo S really increases the price on the front rotors for two reasons, 1. They are a larger limited issue items & 2. They are a genuine 2pc rotors with Aluminum rotor hats.
