Default center arm rest removal

I have a 2005 CTT. Something happened to the leather on top of the center arm rest (the one that opens for storage) and I want to have the leather redone. Does anyone know how to remove the top, leather covered, piece?

Thanks,
Andy

Thank you for the diagram. It does not show exactly what I am looking for however. There are small pins that lock the top part of the hinge to the top piece, but I dont seem to be able to remove them. My other option is to remove the entire top section from the base unit. The bottom end of the hinge in figure 106 ... how do I release the bottom of the hinge? Thanks!

That's really sorta a tease with the beginning instruction being:

Is the emergency operation of release something like a BFH? Or dynamite? You can't leave us in suspense like this..

How can the hinge be accessed (the portion that is behind the armrest itself)?

Good question.

I see in PET that there's a hinge pin with a slotted lock washer on one end. It looks like the pin slides out when the locking washer is removed.
I suspect the rear cap (upholstered piece with AC nozzle) must come off to allow clearance for the pin to come out.

I have a used console lid on the way to me & will have a replacement leather covering available once I get it and make a pattern. It'll have French seams along the sides and sell for $69. $89 if you want to add an embroidered Porsche crest.

I'd have used my own Cayenne to check the dis-assembly and make a pattern but there's no room in the shop.

Hi Rob,

If you can figure out how to easily get it off ... I will be glad to sent it to you for covering. Andy

It's not as easy as some to get off.

To get the lid off.

1. Under the hinge brackets, take the two torx screws out.

2. Starting at the seam, carefully pry the smaller section of the inside line up.

3. Push out the hinge pins.

4. Pull the hinge pins.

5. The lid is glued to the liner with a lot of glue to say the least. I used a putty knife and a wide paint scraper to pry it off. Work slow and use mild pressure when prying it off so as not to crack the liner.

Installation is the reverse. It's made of ABS so super glue will work fine.

A leather lid cover is $69, $89 with embroidery. If you want me to install the leather covering onto the lid add $50. This includes prying off the inner liner and re-gluing it.

Rob, when you complete on with the embroidery I wouldn't mind seeing a pic and I'm sure others would like to see it too. Thanks

OK
I've got some sand beige leather coming. It'll take a couple weeks to get the first one patterned and done.
