Default Coolant Leak

My 04 Cayenne S has been leaking coolant when it's cold. I wake up in the morning with a puddle under the car. It looks to be coming from near the alternator. Has anyone had this? My mechanic said it was a loose hose clamp and tightened. Problem not solved!

I just had a Reservoir fail at the seam where the two halves are friction welded together. It dripped on the body underneath and ran down the frame rail on the right side just behind the front passenger tire. They are known to fail too.

Coolant pipes
Coolant reservoir
Water pump

All have been known to fail.
All have been discussed here in detail.

I would quickly determine if it is in fact the coolant tubes, since your starter and transmission seals are next.

Also, please be sure to clean up any coolant on the ground, as it is extremely toxic to dogs.

The coolant pipes were replaced this spring with aluminum so that won't be it. Tracing the leak up to source it looks like it's coming from the area of the alternator. Looking at the parts diagrams there is a coolant pipe up there. I'm interested in seeing if anyone else has had a similar leak before I tear into it.

I have not seen the complex thing - but was told that the alternator is water cooled ....... sounds expensive.

My water pump leaked and gave me a little present when it was cold -- also told the thermostat housing "O" rings can give a small drip on a cold morning.

I was getting a large coins worth -- not a pie pan.

To change rubber rings and the liquid will not flow
