Default PIG Turbo S Brakes

I'm new to the forum. You guys have a great thing going here!

I'm having a hard time keeping my brakes from squeaking. I thought the pads
were shot so I took it to the dealership and was told my pads were 70% and that everything looked fine??? The brakes still squeak sporadically. I can go a week of squeaking and then a week of non-squeaking....anyone know how I can resolve this? Our local dealership obviously has no clue.....

I will tell you what I have done when my brakes have been squeaking in the past (not that I am sure this will work in your case, but its worth a try). Get going at about 60 mph or so and then apply some reasonable pressure, (40-60 percent, not enough to upset the car but enough to get a good bite from the brakes) and then just slow yourself down to about 15-10 mph. I usually do it about 3 times. Seems to work well for me. Just be careful that there are no other cars around when you do it. Best of luck!

As AC27 said the break-in procedure of your brakes is important but I also have a '06 Turbo S and I found that a set of EBC Yellows are better than OEM, no Squeal, slightly less dusting, and cost less. I'm still using stock rotors but have swapped to the Yellows and they are great compared to OEM and half the dealer price.

Anti-squeal paste that goes on the back of the pad goes a long way.

My '06 Turbo S has never squealed, ever. 25k on original pads and rotors, only brake fluid flushes.

Hm. Is this always just a Turbo issue and not a problem with the S or base models? (i.e. different pads/manufacturer)

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll definitely give those EBC Yellows a shot. I've never had this issue with any of my other porsche brakes. Man, it just sounds like SH$T when pulling up somewhere!

As crazy as this may sound, accumulated brake dust within the caliper/pad/disc area will actually increase your chances of brake squeal.

A strong stream of water from a garden hose aimed directly at the calipers (for a few seconds) will rid them of excess brake dust and most likely eliminate the squeal as well. Be warned, a lot of black crud will stream down your driveway.

When I changed my brakes around 40,000 miles, I used "Brake Quiet" grease on the back of the pads and it worked very well. No squealing. I had my mechanic do the last brake job around 80,000 miles with OEM pads and rotors. It squeals now.
